It really depends. If my hardware was recent and played games flawlessly - such as my laptop, which I got a few months ago, I would not upgrade just for one game. However, if my laptop was older, and severely outdated in gaming standards, I most likely would. In that instance, it wouldn't just be for one game only. I'd then use my upgraded PC to play multiple games.

Yes, already did this.
Bought Watch Dogs 2, which completely disrespected my video card. Went out the next day and bought a new one.

I depends if the game is worth upgrading for. Some games just aren't well optimized to even consider the investment.

Nope. If the game developer isn't smart enough to realize that every. single. person. is using old hardware and develop their game for older hardware, then it isn't worth playing.

(note: I say every single person using old hardware, because hardware are a lot like cars.. the minute you take them off the lot, they're old news)
