Point Reset Suggestion

How many of you would like to see a point reset?

Keep the permanent game stats. But reset the point system every month, or every two months, as they do it on some servers. There is an option for that in the GameMe system. I know it would be a shame to lose all game stat history, but no need to do that when GameMe has a feature that allows a point reset.

I asked around on the server today if people would be happy to have a reset. It appeared to me that everybody that I talked to wanted to see a reset. The only people who do not want to see a reset are the point-campers on top who have been stacking them up for years on end. They know that if the points would reset there is no chance they will ever make the top list ever again. So they are fighting as hard as they can to keep the current system in place as much as possible.

The only possible reason I can think of, to not reset, is that the top-campers might stop playing. They might be useless teammates but they do fill the server. And having a constant flow of players is more important. This is what is risked with a point reset.

I believe the points system ruined the game, but having said that I think the system should stay as it is, as we dont want player going to another server to play .
I remember years ago on an Australian server if you did not cap a flag within 10 minutes of joining you were kicked off, you could imagine how many flags were capped in game.
Oh well they were the good old day's.

That is a very good point. We need to be absolutely sure that regular ego players would not leave the server if the points were reset. Does anybody have any ideas how to test this idea? What asking top 100 regular ego players one-on-one, through steam, if they would not mind?

Well looking at the public poll, 4/10 of the top 10 voted to change it, so I don't think it's necessarily that the top 10 players are fighting a reset. You should go ahead and make a drop box post about it, if it lets you. I see Vagabond finally dethroned Jih2, Congrats Vagabond!

There is no harm in the points system, I use to periodically reset them and all it does is drive the regualars away as they don't want to build them up again, where as they need to keep playing to 'stay on top' so to speak.
It seems there are players in the servers that want the campers and stats builders to go and to encourage team play and such, that's old school stuff coming out, It's a pub server at the end of the day, players just drop in, play the game and go.
Things are getting better, Hankuna has started to move about more now, Superman has started to play support a bit now ( he thinks eG0 took his rep away so he is mixing it up more ) Blanks is still behind the wall at axis 1, but everyone knows this
A better suggestion might be to encourage them into the teamspeak channel or steam group chat and rally team play through communations.

Did he not get his rep back? I got in touch with the tech team and they had fixed his rep, like back in March I believe.

cubey, in another post, i noted you said that there are a lot of campers who like to hide back in spawn, to preserve their scores.

i don't really agree with that assessment, people play in many different ways, and when you consider that... the allied and axis
1st flags, are literally 10ft away as the crow flys..... it makes logical sense to be near a spawn flag. Especially since a non-aggressive
allied team is on the fence anyways and battling for their first 2 flags. Having a sniper or MG in the back, is a good move.

People tend to call standing in one spot "camping", and then make negative associations with that word.

Which is quite ridiculous, because staying in one spot, can also be called another word "patience", and that word is
often associated with being a virtue.

If a player was truly camping and staying in one spot, then it seems to me, that you would have the advantage on them,
and they would be 10x easier to kill, had you no knowledge of it.

Some of the best snipers/mg players though, will know when a spot is overplayed, and will change spots... so associating
someone with being the best, is also not synonymous with staying in one spot.

It kind of goes in hand with the "work smart, not hard", philosophy. Why run and jump all around the map, when
you can just stand in one spot, dodge a couple of bullets, and take out half the enemy team. lol

and all of this, has nothing to do with a point system, but just staying alive, and killing the enemy before they kill you.
