i love win amp but it doesn't work with zune (i think). And I will soon be getting VLC instead of WMP.

What do yall think?

VLC is the default on our system, but honestly the only music I listen to on the computer is streaming. Our MP3 collection is hooked up to the entertainment center for volume independent of the computer.

Generally I use winamp for my music.. I have it docked up at the top of the screen <3. For my movies I use VLC just because it can basically play anything!

Very nice... I was thinking of doing something similar to that.. I'd love if you could give some more details on how you made that work out.

iPod dock hooked into the tuner. Quick and easy.

For music I use the Creative Media Player. Seems to be the best quality for music, and it is hard not to use the software that the sound card it self comes with, as it is most likely tweaked specifically to get the most outta the card

i use winamp since it helps me edit files so that i can play music on my cell fone as well as it can play most media. i have 2 friends that have zunes & theyve never had issues w/ em. then again, im not gonna get a zune ne time soon so ya.

VLC + CCCP has handled every single format I've ever thrown at it, churning through files that others stumble over.

Might not be the prettiest, but it's reliable.

However, I use VLC for all my video...you'd be amazed at all the formats VLC can handle.

I have a love-hate relationship with winamp... On one hand, I've been using it for a decade, it does what I need it to, and the media library is great. On the other hand it suffers the plaque of AOL -- dozens of thirdparty services, spying on music usage, and has become bloated to the point I wouldn't mind a replacement...

For movies/videos (of which I watch a lot), I prefer Media Player Classic, along with the Haali Splitter, Dscaler5 MPEG codec, AC3Filter, and FFDShow (all the codecs you'll ever need).

PS: OP -- Yes, the Zune is supported by Winamp (as are all PlayForSure devices, or any PMP that connects as a usb drive), though it's re-foldering/naming scheme it uses when syncing is ridiculous. MediaMonkey is great for syncing with PMP's -- custom folder/renaming settings, optional re-encoding (so you can turn your FLACs to MP3's when syncing) -- it's just a little buggy...

we use the windows vista media center; it's hooked up to our tv, and we control it with a remote control. kinda basic, but it gets the job done. I just wish the visulations in media player were as sharp as the ones in itunes !shy

WMC is pretty sexy, when it comes to media player things. to bad there is no AIO app.

I used winamp religiously for roughly 6 years give or take though as of late i found that i have been forced to use CCCP + Zoom player for video. and i've started using itunes for music as it just happens to be that much easier in the long run. so winamp is more or less in retirement. Though i still use it occasionally on some older videos that i know work.
