Ok, actually this brings up a question in posting this question... so it may be a 2 parter.. so bear with me.

I was adding WinterMute this morning while at the Achievement party and I couldn't. STEAM told me my FRIENDS list was FULL. I didnt count.. but I have TONS of people in there. Maybe like 8 non-EGO's and like 2 trillion EGO's. =)

Apparently Steam has a limit to the number of friends you can have.. or is there a workaround.. short of just removing people from the list to make room for new ones?

Also, here's part two... though I think it would be best for a new thread.. but I'll do it here.....

Steam is great to keep in contact with Events, and EGO friends, etc. But I can't take STEAM with me when I'm not at my PC. Is there a resource (or could we create one?) where we could have a "friends" list or directory of members of EGO and maybe an MSN IM, or Yahoo IM id?? My mobile phones now have these IM apps installed... this way you can get a hold of another EGO if you aren't on Stream and at work, shopping, etc.

Would be funny to get an IM from Drunken saying he was going to whoop up on someone at the next Rumble.. or someone joking about something else.

Anyways.Thanks

150 is the max for Steam Friends, no work around.

As for the list, if you look at the user lists for the forum, a majority of people don't list their screen names and would likely be just as reluctant to do it anywhere. Some of us like to keep our AIM/MSN/Yahoo names somewhat private.

Somewhat agreed with Lafin although i didn't know about the max amount of friends on Steam.

Im sure the only way anyone would list their AIM/MSN/Yahoo names would be if they were to get something out of it in return, im sure

on a related note to steam friends...

the achievement:
Family Practice
ÜberCharge ten of your Steam Community Friends.

It says i did 10 but it won't let me have the achievement. I couldn't find any thread to put this in so i decided to put it in here considering it has to dow ith steam friends.

Keep ubercharging them and keep the threads on-topic.

Yeah my friends list is full as well... I was thinking about opening a support ticket and asking if there was anything they could do.

might be worth a shot. If enough people do it, they might increase the limit. Valve is pretty good about listening to their community (and don't you dare tell me they aren't.)

I think we should make a petition to Steam and have every sign it to get more member slots!!!

There are 150 places... Why need more? I mean... I'm pretty friendly with all of you eGO people I see in the servers, but I'm only REALLY talking to some of them. Currently, I have my only IRL friend who has TF2, and 8 eGO members. That's it. I don't see the point in keeping friends with someone you saw 2-3 times and didn't talk a lot.
I may talk for myself, but I just add people I can remember why I wanted them to be my friend in the first place. I think the 100 last person in your list are probably not people you talk with a lot, and the 30 last are people you didn't see in a long while. Just take the 5 last ones and kick them from your list to add 5 more people. Simple, I say ^_^

Because we NEED the communication... I need room on my list for hundreds of eGO's and dozens of people I want to recruit being an A|R so I can keep in touch. Also the more people on my friends list the easier it is for all of them to call on me when they need an admin in the servers. Not to mention all the questions that we get from numerous players each day, some I have spoken and played with and others I have never even seen but they're there and I can answer!

i dont understand why there would be a friends cap ... steams trying to run my life D: no they cant >.< they all ready control me with their games

I read somewhere on the Steam Forums that Valve were planning on extending the limit of friends from 150 up to 400. Could just be a rumor though. =/

I want it for the communication.. this way if I need some Advisor advice or need a Council member I can find one in game.... or vice versa if a recruit has a question or problem... they can reach me and hopefully I can help.
