I've been thinking I'd like to pick up something fun to play lately and tend to enjoy RPGs, but never know what to play. So, what are your favourite ones? Tell me a little about what you enjoy and what you maybe dislike.

I'm rather biased as I do really enjoy JRPGs, but I'd suggest checking of the Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky (trilogy) or any of the Tales games. Great deal, especially with the summer sale going on. For example, the first Trails in the Sky game took me about 50 hours to complete playing rather casually and not going for 100%. I find that JRPGs in general tend to offer many more hours of gameplay and present a different form of storytelling as opposed to western made RPGs. In both Legend of Heroes and Tales games (especially the two most recent releases Zestiria and Beseria), you have to think a bit about your strategy as the game progresses. Going into combat as a mindless zombie just won't work. I feel both series offer a ton of depth in both story and combat and would be a really fun play for you.

As a side note, I picked up all 3 witcher games the other day on the summer sale because I've heard nothing but praise for the series, especially the 3rd game. It's supposed to have countless hours of gameplay and world building lore. For roughly $25, it seems like a steal to get those games. Maybe take a look at those to see if they are up your alley.

I would like to suggest to you picking up Xenoblade Chronicles X. I know the 1st Xenoblade is a hard find now, for the physical copy that is (although I am not sure if there is a digital version available). I don't have and have never played Xenoblade Chronicles. Even though that is true, I am having a great time with Xenoblade Chronicles X (haven't played in a bit I must admit though). My copy is digital though, and I am not sure if it's still available digitally or how hard it would be to get a physical copy. I also have FFXV and find it very enjoyable. I agree with MEGA that JRPGs have lots to offer.

(after spending a few minutes trying to write this im just going to keep it simple)
Morrowind:
Pros:atmosphere, gives a hefty sense of accomplishment(when you finally find the place you where told vague directions to,can easily be modded to about 2005 graphics w/mods
Cons: clunky ui/controls(the controls can be changed),early-game is slow(literally)

Fallout 1:
Pros:very small file size(w/dosbox and a bit of tinkering can easily fit on a pendrive)
Cons:requires running through dosbox,very old,turned-based

Neverwinter Nights Diamond:
Pros:D&D
Neut: Graphics are meh
Cons:old,clunky control/camera(at first)

Daggerfall:
Pros:another very small file.
Cons:Very and i mean -very- clunky combat controls, very old

I tend to lean more towards older western rpgs so the biggest problem for most of these will be graphics and for some control schemes(for the really old ones) but beyond that they usually can keep you busy for a few hours(or a few hundred).

If you want any in-depth details about any of these just ask o/
