Possible tornado

Well today we had a tornado watch. About 20 minutes away they think one may have touched down. Still waiting for official word though.

I live in Kentucky and we get them here as well -hate them!

We only get one once in a blue moon. We had a small one a couple of years ago that picked a semi and dropped it on the median between lanes. Scary stuff.

Yeah that was a tornado. If its a cloud with rotation touching the ground or debris is visible on the ground rotating then tornado. Otherwise if rotating but not debris or touching ground then funnel cloud. If not rotating then just a scud cloud. Another good indicator of a tornado vs straight line winds is debris is often twisted and snapped in multiple directions for tornado and if straight line winds pushed down in one direction. When i was out in Nebraska i experienced many times with rotating funnels over our base and housing. Once we had a funnel cloud drop infront of my apartment and did some wind damage before sucking up the hill over our apt and touching down finally a half mile away as and EF-1.

Been confirmed. Two tornadoes touched down in WNY.
The first one landed in Hamburg ,NY about 15-20 minutes from me. That was an EF2 with a max wind speed of 105 and a max width of 700yds.

The second landed in Holland NY about 40 minutes away(est.). This was an EF1 max wind speed of 95 and a widht of 500 yds.

Best part is that no injuries or deaths occured.

The one picture in the weather.com video is eerie. Thank god nobody was sitting in that seat.

Tornadoes can be rough stuff. I had a EF4 touch down about 15 miles from my house. It wiped out that area. Scary stuff.
