What do you call the "#" symbol?

because thats what it is called (Sharp or number sign). It's not a hashtag, you need words to follow after the "#" sign in order for it to be a hashtag. With out the words, it's just a "#" sign. Freakin millenials. :facewall:

I'm a millennial and I call it the sharp/number/pound sign/key... most of my friends who I knew were born in the '80s/'90s don't call it a hashtag unless it's in the context of social media

It seems to be 'hip' for anyone that isn't from the millennial generation (and even some who are) to blame millennials for things they didn't even start, but I'm hanging onto the hope that you were being sarcastic :p
