I don't want ANYONE to stray off topic with this thread or there will be heck to pay! Got it! :cursing: Since we live in various geographical locations:

Best Fast Food (Quick Service Restaurant) - Hamburger?

Best Fast Food - French Fries?

Answer:
I think In & Out Burger has the best hamburgers and McDonald's has the best Fries. Period!

Your responses are critical to the vitality of the DODs community and will support AFK Management. Thank you. Oh and the Allied Team kinda rocked it last night. Just saying...

I agree, In-N-Out has the best fast food hamburger, but I think Five Guys has the best fries and you get so many, like an insane amount. I worked at a McDonalds when I was in HS and the fries were good, but only right after they come up, and they aren't seasoned except for salt. But the majority of the time you go, the fries aren't that fresh. They have to be thrown away at 7:00 minutes too, which a lot of people didn't do. As a customer, I don't mind waiting for things to be made fresh, which is why I usually don't mind the wait at Steak n Shake, but you have a lot of customers that will get downright nasty if they have to wait 3 minutes for french fries. As a result, employees usually over cook their amounts.

I don't even eat hamburgers, so I honestly have no idea... Cheeseburgers though - Mcdonalds, if you add some chili cheese tops inside :)))

Fries; definitely Sunset Boulevard. (Danish - you probably don't know it). Insane fries.

Yes. In-Out Burgers are awesome. When I flew back to calif for couple days two mobths ago, I hit In/Out every day for burger, fries, and shake. McDonald fries are good, sometimes. Five guys fries are so good that I will swing by just for an order of fries to go.

I don't know if the BGR Burger Joint counts as 'fast food' in this instance because sometimes the wait can be up to 5-10 minutes since they cook things fresh (not that I mind the wait!), but they've got one of the best burgers I've ever had for a great price (~$8ish for a double bacon cheeseburger and a large order of fries). The fries were great -- not the best I've ever had but I'd happily eat them again, and for under ten bucks they gave me so much food that I had to finish my meal over the course of lunch AND dinner

Fries-wise, it's hard to beat Five Guys. Their fries are genuinely great. When I worked at Food Lion my co-workers and I would go there for lunch break and four of us would split the bill two ways on two orders of large fries. If anyone was ever brave enough to order a cheeseburger in addition, we had to excavate our way through French Fry Mountain before they'd get to enjoy their burger since they'd dump an entire order of fries on top of the burger... lol

I always liked Burger King french fries it's thick and moist. I googled Five Guys french fries and it seemed very tasty as u guys suggested but unfortunately we don't have any Five Guys in Korea(or In-N-Out for that matter) my not-so-much-educated choice should be...
Best french fries : Burger King
Best burgers : Burger King
we don't have that many options in South Korea when it comes to fast food burgers...

Best Burger fast food is In-N-Out period. Five guys isn't fast food. It is fast casual. This may start an argument, but I can get a much better restaurant burger from many places for the same price as five guys.

That said, In-N-Outs fries are terrible if not eaten instantly since they are hand cut in the store.... The freeze dried garbage from Burger King, Five Guys, and Pop-Eyes tastes better.

Burger King and Popeyes do freeze-dry but Five Guys doesn't freeze-dry or store anything in a freezer -- they keep their meats, cheeses and veggies in a refrigerator but otherwise get shipments of fresh supplies once or more a week, depending on location. I'm actually not sure if they even refrigerate the potatoes they cut for fries honestly, they make a lot of them and they make them fresh

Definitely Five Guys for both... Haven't tried In-N-Out though. Hate McDonalds fries, nasty every time I go.

Correct Answer... none of them! lol

I'm not really a big fan of french fries.
When I was a kid, hamburgers were my favorite meal by far.
and they were always home-made.

I have had so many fast food restaurant burgers put me off, that I just stopped trying.

I find it pretty presumptuous that when you order a burger, they automatically assume
that you want a garden mixed into your burger. salad, tomato, lettuce, pickle, onion, mustard,
mayonaise. that's not a burger.... that is called a sandwich. lol

oh and I forgot the wretched pickle... no matter how much mustard and mayo you scrape off,
the pickle flavor has soaked into everything.

I've even ordered it plain, and still received all that mess. lol

over the years... my tastes have evolved like one does, and I don't particularly mind
these extra flavors, but I still think there is much to be said, for just your plain
burger. (I still find pickles, mayo and mustard to be the worst.)

now if you really want to enhance the flavor of your burger.... you want to look at the sauces.
the right combination of sauce can be exquisite. Personally, i prefer hot sauce, i've made some
tongue tantalizing creations from that.

I've also tried the Gordon Ramsey burger, where you mix an egg into the meat... and while I give
the concept 5/5 for creativity.. the flavor just doesn't hit the spot.. kind of reminds me of adding
egg to pizza dough.. the results seem okay, but the flavor leaves you in doubt. lol
Plus I noticed, adding egg to the meat, it leaves you with a feeling of being "full" for quite some time,
while I realize that might be part of the point to eating, lol it might also suggest it digests a bit slower.

I remember one time, I was with my dad in town... and he suggested we go to his favorite chinese
place, but left it open to me on where to go. I suggested some burgers from McDonalds.... I could tell
he wasn't thrilled with the idea, but he went along with it. lol
So we get in line at McDonalds... and we could see the kitchen in the background, it didn't look very
sanitary, and then we observed this volumptuous cashier hand a tray for the next customer... gave it
a wipe with her hand and handed it to the customer, and there was still some lettuce left over on the
tray... so me and my dad just glanced at each other... and I asked if he still felt like Chinese food. lol
My dad smiled and we left the line and went to the Chinese joint. lol

I typically ordered hamburgers at Chinese places anyways, lol
which weren't too bad...

If I had to choose, I'd say Wendy's and Dairy Queen does a fair job (in the realm of fast food)
but no real comparison to homemade.

I think it all boils down to the quality of the meat as well.. anything under 85% lean, and you
end up with a fatty mess.

That reminds me of this Gordon Ramsey episode I watched, where... the Chef was an incredible cook,
in fact.... it was the first time on his tv show, that I've "EVER" seen him clean his entire plate. lol and
even more incredible, his plate was heaping with food. That's how good the chef was.

anyways, the food was great, but they were stuck in a fast food mentality, of preparing lots of food in
large batches... and then microwaving portions. That's where what you said comes in Headshot... that
it might take "a little" longer, but you know that what you're getting is "fresh"

although on that note, I've often found leftovers to be almost as delicious as the meal the first go around. lol
must be all of the extra bacteria talking ;)

Sadly never had In-n-out burger East Coast :( but I like McDonalds fries, and Five Guys Burgers
