100% depends on the game. Honestly, it is a lot less now than ever. Collection's edition used to be so great with the physical novelty items that would come with them. Everything is going digital more and more. Collection's/limited editions are slowly losing value completely.

I only 100% purchase CE on 2 series: Final Fantasy and Atelier. Everything else depends on how familiar I am with it and whether it is worth it or not.

If the DLCs will be cheaper and i know 100% i will like the game, ill definitely get the upgraded version. but thats a big if, and the only time ive ever done that were for Destiny 2 and Borderlands Pre-sequel (which was a huge mistake).

Only on rare occasions honestly. The average Collectors Edition can cost two or more times as much as the Limited Edition, depending on the game, and some CEs don't include enough cool stuff for me to even consider the price jump.

I think the only collectors editions I tend to get are the physical copies with the associated physical goods; busts/figurines, maps and mouse pads, free apparel etc. whereas digital CEs are generally pretty bland and boring and aren't worth the price jump in most cases, in my experience

I really wanted the physical Destiny 2 PC Collectors Edition, but unfortunately it was completely sold out when I went to place the order so I just gave up. Other than that I bought into the physical CEs for Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR. And lemme tell you, one of those I regret putting that much money into immensely...

Depending on the game I generally get the Collectors if it comes with nifty things over the Limited.
