Good evening, I have recently ordered parts to come in to build a pc. I installed all of the parts and put everything together to start it up and a light came on in the motherboard which indicates the cpu was not detected or that it has failed. Well I went ahead and got a refund for the item and ordered another cpu. It arrived today and I took the fan off and installed the new cpu. The same light however appears on the motherboard and when it is connected to a monitor it does not give me any signal. Tried with hdmi vg dvi, but for some reason I am not able to make it to the post boot up. Any suggestions or helpful advice?
 
Can you post some photos of the ongoing issue. It would be helpful in diagnosing the issues you are having.
 
it sort of sounds like maybe the CPU isn't seated properly, or is the light thats coming on actually in reference to your ram?

Yeah, I'm thinking it's due to his ram.

What motherboard do you have? If it's not a processor issue it could be the memory which is pretty common. Try booting up with one stick.

If you could give more details on the build I can help you further if someone else's suggestion doesn't fix it.
 
I was able to figure this problem out, Now i have another problem with installing the OS. The case i have chosen does not have an optical drive slot, so i had to order an external drive to use the OS which is on a disc. Now it says no drivers found, load driver then select OK. It does not allow me to browse for other drivers. I've tried going into the BIOS but to no avail. The only solutions I have seen are that I need to partition the hard drive, or use a usb. Any thoughts?

So I was able to use a friends internal disk drive and hooked it up with the sata and it was able to install fine. Now one last thing. What are some network adapters you guys use? Or maybe you just use an Ethernet cable. Should one spend more money on one? Or will a $20 one do the same thing? Thanks for reading. :)
 
It depends on your routers wireless speed. I would find out what your routers speed(n150 n300 ac1750....etc) and match the adapter to that to get the maximum amount of bandwidth from your connection. If your router is in the same room as your pc, i would just go wired since you will always have a faster connection with wired networking over wireless
 
I ordered a netgear a6 210 network adapter (usb) and installed the cd but now when it asks me to plug it in it does not detect the adapter. Im assuming I have to update the drivers or the usb controller drivers, but how is this possible without an internet connection? Even the Ethernet port needs to be updated to connect. Anybody else have problems like this when they built their pc?
