eGO and councils decisions

For all of you that arent aware of what eGO is and what we stand for I am about to explain what it is to me. After seeing many post and discussions on map selections and other issues, I become quit annoyed at the fact that people are continuing to disagree and questions councils decision in open forums.

Now its easy to blame everything on council for this or that but council has a lot on their plate. They are the backbone of this community, and i say community because we all have say in certain things. If you have ideas or suggestions pm any council member and tell them what you are thinking. I am sure they will be happy to listen to what you have to say and having a meeting with you and get further ideas. But dont just open rants on the open forum against council members just to start more problems with in the community.

Council members have to make really hard decisions sometimes. These decisions are based on one thing and one thing only... the goal of eGO. This goal is to give everybody a clean, mature place to play and have fun and meet awsome people from around the world. Not only do we want to have these awsome gaming environments but we need our servers full and we want them nationally ranked. There is no point in having a server that doesnt get full or stay full like the other servers do. So in the end council makes the final decision which they see fits the best for the entire community.

If you dont think they are doing the right thing thats fine not everyone is going to be in agreence. The way to get your opinion heard and listened to is to do it in a mature and respectable manor. Send council a pm stateing your opinion maturely. I am positive they will respond and give you a better understanding of their decision and why that best fits the community.

I am sorry if i stepped over my boundry or what not but after seeing so many post about this issue I got a little irritated. Hope this helps to clear things up especially for the new =(e)='s. and sorry for such long post just couldnt stop after i started

I don't know what you guys expect, starting an ONLINE community, but there is going to be dissent among its members no matter what decision is made. How the community and its leaders handle this aforementioned dissent shows the true colors of its said leaders. Tossing out simple dissenters doesn't seem the "mature" way to me. To me, its rather akin to the kid you played with when you were young, the one who yanked away his new toy from you as soon as you wanted to something that wasn't his way. The fact that you are bothered, or "annoyed" by the fact that people question decisions by authority is flat out shocking, i don't know where you're from, where you work, etc; because the gears of liberty and progress are greased with dissent and those who question decisions.

And no one was ranting against a council member, there is no personal vendetta and why would there be if decisions are made by a group of people. The fact that a long time visitor gets banned for wondering where a server went and asking why a thread got closed is ludicrous.

Once again, someone addressing this PRIVATELY RUN COMMUNITY like it's some sort of democratic institution.

I don't know where YOU work, but if I argue with my boss, I get fired. There are no gears of liberty or progress, just a pink slip.

Bill you have to understand something. You play on eGO servers for free. You don't put in one penny unless you want to. But guess who does - members of the council and advisors. They pay a bill every month to keep the servers running. They get sponsors so that they don't have to ask us for money. They maintain and support everything eGO...for you...for free.

As to dissent....I wouldn't try to pull this line in the military or in corporate America. If you want your opinion heard by the leader, okay talk privately with them. I have disagreed with my bosses plenty but in the end I had to respect their decisions whether I liked them or not. This is what it means to be a follower and if you can't follow you will Never lead. If you don't respect others you will never get their respect.

Finally this is not the US government - something you can criticize and whine about all day long. We are not making laws here. We are not debating social reforms. This is a private institution that allows you to be a member. Your quote is misplaced and out of context and it's no excuse to disrespect anyone. We don't know what happened with Snoodle and it's not our problem.


I agree with you JarHead. Things have gotten a little rough since the updates. I think this is because of all the changes - Medic Achievements, Goldrush, free weekend. But don't worry, things will calm down. They always do. K I'm done ranting

Good post Guama. People need to understand that Council doesn't just shoot from the hip when they aim to cure problems and when they choose the direction of this community.

Actually I grease the gears on F-18s and pretty much do what I'm told.

Believe me, I have an American flag on the wall behind me and the [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadsden_flag]Gadsden flag[/link] on my left. I carry in my wallet a metal disk with the bill of rights inscribed upon it. In my wallet I carry two $2 bills because the back depicts the signing of the Declaration of Independence. I could go on and on about this sort of thing(seriously, but this isn't the place.). But eGO servers are not our government, and our constitution reads a little differently. Sometimes the leaders have to take hard stance on a topic. They do this not because they are callous and uncaring. They mess people over just because they can or so they can look cool to their internet buddies. They do it because it needs to be done. In order to promote the ideals behind eGO some cuts and sacrifices have to be made.

Our goal is a clean gaming environment where anybody can play without having to worry about getting tub girl'd or having to face a tirade of swearing. To exist as a peaceful community free of rabble rousing and other crap people play games to escape from.

One thing I have to add is ask the ADVISORS first. They are councils righthand men ( and women) and can usually help with an issue so that council is not needed.

I could do one of my epic, 2000 word posts that you're all probably getting used to, but for the tl;dr crowd, I'll just do this:

If you like eGO and the decisions of the people who allow you to play on its servers for free, continue to play on those servers for free.

If you don't, leave.

Council likes to keep players happy, but this isn't a democracy. Even if it was, it seems the majoriy would rather play on any other map but Convoy. I'll miss it myself, but I'm sure we'll find something even more fun. The "gears of ... progress" do seem to be turning.

You all have said some great points now I'll add mine.

If you are here because of one map. And one server. Then i'm going to have to ask you to change it up a bit. Because you never know when that map or server will just flat out die. Some people get over those maps. Some people don't want to play that map anymore. YA maybe you will still want to play this map. But majority doesn't.

And you are here for just a map/server. Then I'm sorry, your not here for the right reasons. It's ok some people cant see the trees through the forest. Some people can. Who ever said that convoy was never going to come back? I know i didn't.

See there would be a difference, Your asking why we took away his toy. But if we took away his toy, eGO wouldn't be here. That would be taking away his toy.
