This game will probably be just ok in my eyes.
Single player: I've seen a little bit of the gameplay and to me it looks pretty bland. The story on the other hand looks pretty interesting and it's canon (+1 for this). So if that's the case, I can probably watch all the cutscenes on youtube or something anyways.
Multiplayer: I played a couple of hours of the beta and didn't really have fun at all. FPS's, imo, should be about teamwork and working together to achieve a goal. The objective gameplay (ie. the goal) is there, but to get to that goal as a team is almost non existent. There are some aspects of teamwork in this game, for instance boosting your allies as an officer. But other than some other things, it's pretty much about you and you alone getting to that goal. There is no squad system, no VoIP, and barely any teamwork at all. The party system is just about you and your friends playing in the same server, which you find with matchmaking. Your abilities that you unlock via crate system, have no effect on your allies. They pretty much enhance your weapons, abilities, or defenses.
Things that I can tell they did right:
Since the game was made by 3 different studios, the game should be somewhat solid.
No season pass.
All 3 eras are represented.
The Heroes all look and feel unique (this is a hard thing to do). Even the light sabered heroes are vastly different from one another. Vader is slow and tanky, maul is fast but is probably easier to kill. Rey and luke are about the same in regards to speed and handling, but they have different abilities.
The class system is pretty neat and the special characters that you can play by investing battle points are pretty cool too.
Things that I can tell that they need work on:
Teamwork aspects, like I said above.
Server browser instead of matchmaking.
Let communities host servers.
Mod Tools: won't happen because it's DICE and they haven't released those in a very long time for their games.
Single Player gameplay. This is probably locked in and won't change, so I can't really mention this I guess.
I probably won't be getting this game unfortunately, even if it's Star wars. I enjoy Star Wars for the stories, the visuals, the action, and the overall feels. The first game didn't really impress me with the gameplay so I never ended up getting it. The player base pretty much died off in one-two months after release because the gameplay was just meh. I feel like this game is going to end up in the same boat unfortunately, but it will probably be a few months instead of a couple months.
