Here is a player who has played on your servers since forever.

http://steamcommunity.com/id/dkingz/

His steam page says 1 VAC-ban, and 0 days since last ban. So he got the ban today.

Here are his game statistics:

https://edgegamers.gameme.com/playerinfo/530175

You can see he had over 130,000 kills in total. A total of over 91 days playing on your server. He was ranked #23 by total server play time (Redbud Shankers, by the way, is the longest playing regular, following by London Blitz) of all players who ever played. That is really high up there.

The VAC-ban does not say which game it was but I suspect it was DOD. If you click on his stats it says he tried logging in today and the server did not let him join. It is also suspicious to click on "sessions" and to observe that the day before he got banned his kills/minute rate was 1.72, which is really high. He went from a player whose k/m was under 1.00 to over 1.70 overnight. Not to mention that his accuracy rate had doubled overnight.

I do not know if you know anything about this, but it is really interesting how such a long time regular ended up cheating after so many years.

I have contacted IronPenguin about it. More to follow after a decision is made.

I know why (NZ)-Sniper did the cheating.

Very often when I would play with him on the server he would complain about cheaters. He would call out many players. He would complain in chat about how the admins never do anything about cheaters (which is not true), and how Valve does not do anything about cheaters, ect. He was really strongly convinced there was a lot of cheating going on the servers, coming from the better players, and that neither the admins nor the anti-cheat did anything to prevent this.

Since he believed in this very strongly he figured, "if they are gonna cheat, and always gets away with it, I am gonna cheat, become a respected player, and get away with it". It turned out he was wrong and got busted by the anti-cheat and then eventually by the player community.

Here is the truth. Valve Anti-Cheat is one of the most powerful anti-cheats. People simply do not realize how powerful it is. There is a lot of talk, from gamers, who have no idea what they are talking about, about how it "does not work at all", or that, "maybe it detects obvious hacks, but not more subtle ones", ect. This is simply not true. VAC works. VAC is powerful.

I have over 5000 hours of playtime on DOD. I have played this game for about 9 years. I know a lot about this game. Especially about anti-cheating. How cheats work, how to detect cheats, server-sided anti-cheats, Valve anti-cheat, ect. I have reported hundreds of cheaters over these years to just about every single DOD-community. Never once have I made a mistake. And never once have a player, who I knew was using external programs (and not just material wallhacks), ever been safe from a VAC-ban. If I saw in the demo that the player was cheating beyond with external software, every single one of them, eventually got banned within a few weeks. Sometimes I would report players, they get community banned, and a week later, their profile showed a VAC-ban.

The only thing people should know about VAC is that it is delayed. It takes a while before a ban is delivered. This is done in order to combat the online-cheating scene which sells hacks for games.

I can assure you that if somebody has been playing the game for years and is not VAC banned the probability that they are a legitimate player is nearly 100%. VAC works. Really works. People, unfortunately, do not realize it and do not respect how good of an AC system it is. In fact, Valve has detected league cheaters in CSGO where none of the league sided AC systems detected anything. This was a big bust a year or two ago in CSGO that made some shocking headlines.

Unless a cheater hired a personal programmer who coded everything for them from the ground up so that each cheat signature is entirely unique there is no way to get around VAC. Eventually it catches all hacks which are communicated across the public internet. But a coding project like that is going to cost the prize of a new car. So I doubt anyone is really doing it.

I don't know guys... this all draws a red flag for me. I've played with NZ sniper a ton...all 4 accounts listed in this thread have been around for some time, there not overnight accounts. Coming from someone who had his very own 5 digit steam account banned when it was compromised, I'm curious if this is the case. Compromise across all 4 accounts, possible, but not likely. I just can't understand a long time vet of eGO risking his main account to get back at hackers. I never thought sniper sucked by any means, but he wasn't Cubey or Superman good..... He was very predictable. Then all 4 accounts have some variation of Sniper from (country) and all are from New Zealand. It's possible, he could have 4 accounts and all 4 of his emails could have been hacked. Likely, no, but I am never one to call someone a hacker without irrefutable proof. Just cause someone is VAC banned doesn't necessarily mean they were the one behind it. Then again... some people are just... well... dumb.

Irrefutable proof is an unreasonably high standard. If I was to show you a demo-file that shows him tracing enemies behind walls, you could just say, "maybe he was just lucky for 10 minutes in a row". So even a demo-file is not irrefutable.

Is it possible that a VAC-ban is triggered by a non-cheater? Yes. But it is virtually 0%. Only a few instances have ever happened with Valve in and those were reversed.

We must conclude that whoever was using that account cheated. As well as on the alternative accounts. Especially when the sudden increase in skill performance occurred over-night. And especially when another alternative account got VAC-banned as well.

But was it NZ.Sniper himself? Even assuming that his account was hacked by somebody. Why all this sudden cheating across multiple accounts? Surly the hacker did not hack the other accounts. Furthermore, if you read his chat logs. It is extremely clear that he is a regular player. He knows the community. He was talking cheats in the chat logs and accusing some regulars of using a monthly subscription to play. Whoever this supposed hacker is, he seems to have all the knowledge of NZ.Sniper. Which makes it even more unlikely that the account was hacked.

The most reasonable explanation is that NZ.Sniper got annoyed by his false-beliefs that some better players are cheating. I remember in the past he would talk about it a ton in the chat. Despite how often the admins kept on telling him that his beliefs are incorrect he stuck with them all the time. Now he acted on those false-beliefs thinking that all these regular players are using paid-for-cheats subscriptions. So he did it himself. And got VAC-banned. This is the only explanation that fits with all the evidence that we have.

Well anyone can believe anything about anyone now can't they.

man you really want sniper banned from ego dont you ,a vac ban is not proof of hacking it could be any of
number of things it picked up on his computer, and i wouldnt believe any of the dribble that your talking ,but thats me and my opinion ,give the guy a break untill you have the proof instead of trying to put bullshit into people minds

People can believe anything they want. The question is whether their beliefs are rational or irrational. If a player got a VAC-ban, especially when the week before there was a sudden skill jump in game performance, then it is clear that the player was cheating.

If you want to believe it is all coincidence you can believe that but then you are being completely irrational and letting your feeling on this topic dictate what to belief.

There is no such thing that you are talking about. The only way a VAC ban will occur is:

(i) there was a running .exe program that was an open handle in ReadProcessMemory.

(ii) there was a .dll file that was hooked into hl2.exe.

VAC scans for signatures that do either (i) or (ii). Nothing will trigger a VAC ban unless there was a signature on the computer that was tracked to one of those two. And those two are precisely what is used to manipulate the game.

give the guy a break untill you have the proof

A VAC-ban is proof. Whether people choose to close their minds because they do not like to accept the fact that somebody cheated is up to them. But it is about as conclusive of a proof as there can be.

I find it funny how I have 5000 hours of playtime in DOD. I played in competitive DOD. We used to use additional anti-cheats that would take your screenshots, record your gameplay, further scan your processes, ect. I never was banned for anything over 9 years. Yet you think I am cheating, despite being cleared from all these anti-cheats. However, when a player, who you like, did get VAC ban, you refuse to acknowledge it. It simply shows that you form your opinions based on players based on how you feel about them not what the evidence shows or fails to show.

Sorry to bump this old thread, I registrered to submit an screenshot of what I think it is a cheater, but seeing this thread, I identify this player: http://edgegamers.gameme.com/playerinfo/3013638 he's still playing regularly, so If this is an alt account to the the player "Dk1Ng Easy Win", I want to know what happened, did his alt account got banned as well?

I this is the KIWI sniper from IRAQ he has two son who keep using his account and he has tried to stop them but you now what kids can be like, so please dont judge him to harshly as he is in a catch 22 situation (please read between the lines)
