May 5, 2008 - Marvel Entertainment is going strong after Iron Man's huge opening weekend, and the company today announced their feature film release slate through 2011. That schedule includes the Iron Man sequel and Thor in 2010, and not one but two Avengers-themed movies in the summer of 2011.

Iron Man 2 will hit theaters on April 30, 2010. Thor, which has Stardust helmer Matthew Vaughn attached, will follow on June 4, 2010. The character, according to Marvel Studios' David Maisel, will first be introduced to moviegoers in Iron Man 2. Then, on May 6, 2011, Marvel will release First Avenger: Captain America (that's the first we've heard of the movie's working title), followed by a full-on Avengers movie, aptly named The Avengers, in July 2011.

The studio also confirmed that the Ant-Man film is still in active development with Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) directing. There's no release date for that one yet.

Oh, I can't wait! Thor?! Captain America?!
What are your thoughts about this?

I have a theory..
The title of Captain America Movie is First Avenger: Captain America.
Maybe they're going to make 6 movies.
First Avenger, Second Avenger, Third Avenger, Fourth Avenger, Fifth Avenger, and Sixth Avengers

Thor, Giant-Man, Wasp, Iron Man and the Black Widow! Including Captain America!

And When all of them are out, they're going to make a movie with all of them!

I also heard they are going to be releasing a Venom based movie... any truth to that, or is it just a rumor? (I PRAY THAT THEY DO... I'm a huge Venom fan..)

Spider-Man 4 with Carnage.

I swear if they only have 15 mins of Venom.. I will destroy everything that is marvel.... (Carnage is also wicked though...mmmm)

I only care about the now Iron Man trilogy. Favreau said a trilogy was in the works, but the success of the first one whether the other 2 would make it to film. Now they are for sure.

Starks 'darker' side
and dun dun dunnnnnn......

WAR MACHINE!!!!!!!!!

I knew Thor would be excited about the Thor movie... But you are wrong Thor... Ironman can own Thor any day any where.

Thor's kind of a god and all so I'd have to disagree with you there. However, I'm not sure how well this is going to translate into a movie. I loved Thor in the comics but I don't know if I want to see a big muscular guy with long blond hair running around in tights and a cape.

Oh, and nice reference Purp. ;)

I don't really care what they do so long as I get a Civil War movie or two.

But in 300 we had to watch a bunch of big, muscular guys running around in loincloths and capes and I don't think anyone saw anything wrong with that...

I'm a Avengers big fan, but in this one I can tell that IronMan can beat Thor...

On a side note, do you remember [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Marvel_Superheroes]The Marvel Superheroes TV Show?[/link], I grew up with that, and I can tell that I can hardly wait to see an Avengers movie...

BLASPHEMY!
I prefer DC.

...Thor and Iron Man are friends....

Dont interrupt our argument about how awesome one superhero is from another...

Ironman is way cooler than Thor anyways.

Either way, Spiderman is the second greatest super hero of all time and Batman is first (see what I did there, combined DC and Marvel...).

Ironman would win because of shear wit, much like my favorite superhero Batman. You gotta be smart....

THOR. IS A GOD!

There is NO WAY a little pansy cyborg can beat the GOD OF THUNDER!

Batman would win because Iron Man would be too hammered to participate. Apparently, the plan is to explore Tony Stark's raging alcoholism in the second film, hence the allusions to War Machine ("next time, baby!") in this film.

Expect to see Mandarin in the second film as well, based again on interviews with the director and subtle references to the Ten Rings of Mandarin (the terrorist group being called "the ten rings").
