I need to vent

I need to vent. I'm currently in charge of the half life 2 modification called Breaking Point. Currently we have very few members doing what needs to be done, which is level design. 1 mapper went afk because of school,

BLEH!!! I'm running on empty over here, not knowing what to do exactly. I have posted many news articles for those interested in helping with the mod it can be found here, feel free to give positive critiques. What do you think I should do? Should I continue to look for those who are interested?

Well, first you need to decide if you still want to be a part of this mod. If it's sucking the life out of you, then perhaps it's time to take a step back.

If you decide that you do want this mod to continue, then you need to clean house and get some dedicated staff members. This is not a modding challenge. It's a management challenge. Set up an IRC channel and demand regular progress meetings. If people can't meet their deadlines, then get rid of them.

Where do replacements come from? Well, I know there are quite a few talented mappers and programmers here, but even if nobody here is willing, it's a wide internet out there with lots of forums chock full of modders looking for work. (Remember that modding is one of the stepping stones to regular employment in the game industry. Ask people like American McGee and half the staff of iD software.)

After that, keep yourself motivated and inspired, and you'll have an easier time keeping your team motivated and inspired.

Thanks a lot man. It was a good help. It gave me a second view of things. I'm in school for game design, so managing school and the mod, life and everyday doings is a hand full. Thanks a lot for the help and support. It has been a real experience managing the mod which I like to see the progress come in more fluently would be great.

Mrq you can add me on steam, I'll send you a PM. It's not a matter of knowing how to map all that great, I just need members that will be dedicated to their work and not fall back with an excuse for whatever reason just to get out of doing the work. Thanks a lot guys

i know what it feels like, a game i play Fortress Forever, is just dying for no reason like its a great mod, but people just aren't playing it. make me sad

I was playing Fortress Forever and it is really fun. But then I bought TF2.

Fortress Forever is different from TF2 in many aspects. It's too bad that there are barely any servers with enough players to get a real game going.

I enjoy fotress forever, but like Noravic said, barely any servers with players. I enjoyed it because it was a remake of TFC, which I like and still play. The good ol' days
