I was curious on everyone's thoughts on this. I'm currently using a Logitech G7 cordless and I love it... though sometimes I feel I'm at a disadvantage against some players since I use a cordless. I did try a G5 before getting the G7 but couldn't get used to the cord... it just seemed so "in the way." Whatever, I noticed the G5 and most of the Razer stuff (and other brands now too) have a 1000 reports/sec on their gaming mice... which translates to essentially a 1ms response time... whereas my G7 is a 500 reports/sec which is a 2ms response time.
With me? Ok, browsing thru the forums in the past there's been discussions on "which is the best mouse" etc... and everything from Razer, to the G5.. and also a MX518... and the 518 SEEMED to have quite a few people chiming in suport of it being a KILLER mouse. So recently I'm looking at mice again (like I need another mouse?? Geeesh!!).. and START looking at the MX518. Ok, it's 1600dpi but switchable on the fly.. ok. The fit looks good, OK. Buttons OK... reports/second= 125??? Eh??? I checked it in SEVERAL places and it only reports 125 times per second versus 1000 for the G5 and others.
So, is this reports/sec really "overhyped." I can see how it can matter.. but does it in reality play out that way? Just wondering if any of you have noticed a difference in "response" in a gaming mouse that does 1000 reports/sec versus a slower one.. and is the cordless really a disadvantage? I rarely play with the battery charge level below half so my mouse is usually juiced up good heading into the fray.
Your thought please my fellow fraggers?
Peace and see ya on the servers
