goldrush spot question

i know its a great spot i have used it a lot but after tonight i want to make sure it's fair before doing it again
 
I can see the reasoning behind people saying it's not allowed there, but the basic ruling on anything is that unless it provides some sort of unfair advantage, like making it impossible to shoot, it's generally legal. Definitely good of you to clarify on this one, though. I've never heard anyone say it's not legal, and I myself see no problem with it.
 
It's fair game. It can be shot down.

How'd you get up there, anyway?
 
I suspect he built a dispenser next to the shed on the left, jumped onto the sloping rooftop, built the dispenser on the sloping roof, then jumped up and over the top of the house onto the balcony on the other side. (I see the dispenser in the picture, but I don't know if that's his or not...I don't see how he could have gotten from that particular dispenser to the balcony.)

Anyways, I'm pretty sure this works the same way as the Warpath point 2 rooftop building, which we allow.
 
Unless you're building through floors, exiting the map's playable area, or doing something else involving an exploit, it's fair.
 
I'm very curious about how you got up there. I can see a dispenser on the platform to the right that opens up after the attackers have reached the first checkpoint but can't see how you'd get from there up to the platform in question. Do you go around the back way...ie. from the left of the platform?
 
I would say the spot itself is ok, BUT the key is how you got to that spot. If it involves going to areas of the map that you cant normally w/o glitching/exploiting then it would be considered a no no to be up there as an engy.(a demo or soldier can probably still get there legally)

I guess it would be best to show how you got there and THEN a real determination can be made.
 
Dark_Acolyte and I went on the test server to test out if this as a legit spot. Here is my screenshot of how I got there with everything still built to get up there. Dark Acolyte has some screenies as well from the ground perspective, since he couldnt make the jump under pressure :P

Duck and I tested it a couple minute ago.
This is a legit tactic it just requires a little bit of skill and finesse while jumping...Something I can't manage on the internet. Even though I'm a ninja in real life.

Hmmm, for someone to setup and hold that spot for a while, they'll need to build early.

But it was hard seeing how with the big red circle in the first pic :P
 
My concern there is that the engineer seems to be standing on the air, which makes me wonder if this isn't a bug in the map.
 
nah. There's a little overhang where the "fence" sticks out of the "floor."

I'm pretty sure it's a legit spot. Valve likes their ironic signs (Keep Out, lol.)

This would be why Dark_Acolyte and I headed to the private server and took screenshots. Wanted to show what it looked like from up high and at ground level. Will bring this up with the council and the rest of the advisors and see what we come up with.
 
thats not the way i do it....ill put up some more pics to show how i do it.
