It's that time of year. You've finally escaped your chocolate coma, and are just
getting over the euphoria of your day with that "special someone." The bubbliness
of your stomach hasn't quite subsided. How are you ever going to cope?
Why, with music of course.
Singles and not-so-singles, TF2 Leadership is proud to present our
Post-Valentine's Day Karaoke Night!
On February 17th at 8:00 PM CT / 9:00 PM ET, bring your lovestruck butts down to
Teamspeak (the password will be "hearts") and join Emmy and Minty for a night full
of silly love songs. Bust out some 80's love ballads, or your favorite heart-wrenching
number. This event is not something you're going to want to miss!
So how does it work?
All you have to do is join up to our Teamspeak room and message Emmy or Minty
to get into the queue to sing. Once it's getting close to your turn, you will be notified
by that person that you are on deck. From there, simply introduce your song,
belt out some high notes, and have a blast!
Rules:
1. You are not, under any circumstances, to cue your mic while someone is currently
singing (there is a 'mute microphone' button for a reason). Gaming is a wonderful
hobby that attracts all sorts of socially awkward specimins. For a lot of us, putting yourself
out there and singing for strangers over the internet is a daunting concept all unto itself.
We want to be sure and respect the bravery of our aspiring musicians and remain quiet as
a mouse! Oh, except for the Teamspeak chat. Blow that the heck up.
2. Recordings are fantastic... but only if the artist consents. Building off the previous
statement, this can be a nerve-racking experience for some. Even more nerve-racking
may be the concept of another person having a full recording of your rendition of "Single Ladies."
Prior to hitting that pretty red "record" button, be sure and ask the prospective Beyonce
whether or not they are comfortable with their voice being captured (Little Mermaid style).
3. Songs must be eGO appropriate. No, that does not mean your Eminem soundtrack is
completely off the table. Moderate swearing is completely permissible. Just please use
common sense, lest you find yourself unceremoniously global muted for being a bum.
4. The password is perfectly fine to give out to your friends, but only if they're going to
be respectful. We all have those internet friends that, while we enjoy playing with them,
are not the types of people we'd like to bring into a teamspeak room where someone is
singing their heart out. Use your best judgement, and then invite away. The more the merrier!
5. Have fun! This event is many peoples' favorite, and for good reason. Come with an
open mind and a glass of water, and we'll sing the whole night through... together.
Note: For first-time karaoke-ers, the Song of the Seahorse award is to be given out to every
performer making their debut at a TF2 Karaoke night. Be sure to include whether or not you
are performing for the first time alongside your queue reservation.
