Gold Rush has become one of my more played maps because it's new and different, but I can't help but notice Red is almost unbeatable, we're playing on Level 1 90% of the time, Level 2 5% of the time, and Level 3 is a LIE, the other 5% are lost in the space time continuum. I hope valve gives it some kind of Nerf, usually Red can just build about 4 sentries and have a guaranteed victory. I want to play more of the map but it's almost impossible to get past level 1 without throwing the match on purpose at the moment.

It isn't the map. In my opinion, as big as Goldrush is, it isn't big enough for 32.

The only thing you can do is get a well balanced offense. Also getting spies to sneak up on the cart to move it just an inch helps, too.

yup, as I said before, there aren't any strategies that can't be countered. All you need to do is to play well, have nice teamwork, build ubers or even try something creative, like a soldier rush or demoman rush. A demoman rush on warpath took us two games lost in 2 minutes to take back the game on our side. Anything's possible, I tell ya.

Yeah I kinda agree. I do find it is really hard to win on offense, and you usually do play on lvl 1.
I hasn't turned me off from the map though. I have won afew times on offense, but it is extremely difficultw

I dunno. I think a lot of it comes down to teamwork. I've had games where I've been on a consistently losing team, no matter if we're on Red or Blu. On Red, we just couldn't stop them and on Blu, we couldn't proceed past A. As long as the team is willing to work together, I think it's very possible to win.

I think it's rather opposite, A is almost always won, while B gets to within 20 feet of the end and sits there for 8 minutes.

I agree.

This map was made to use both ubers on people at once.

When Im a heavy and Im ubered and kritzed, I can clear whole open areas. Now imagine having two heavies do that at the same time.

I think everyone will learn this map offensively in time. Like anything that's new it takes some time getting used to. Right now the defenses have found their niche in the map (like where sentries go for example). So now blue team will start using their ubers effectively to take out whats needed and where. Also I've gotten through all 3 stages before, and I strongly believe its an uber heavy map. Now that people have their achievements we are back down to 1-3 medics and that just won't cut it. To be an effective offense on this map you need 4-5 ubers imo.

On a side note, just like in dustbowl, people fail to rush to the point (cart in this case) when teammates are using ubers. If you see an uber go off or have a planned one to go in, follow them, you can help take out sentries and other enemies as long as you stay behind them, just use the two invincible guys as a shield. Almost every uber I see used, or am a part of is really wasted. Sure I might go in, kill some people and then thats it... me and the medic are usually toast when the uber is over. Everyone needs to follow an uber in, thats what really makes a good team.

Also note that so far I have found an easy, safe spot from which to destroy sentries (as demo) for EVERY SINGLE sneaky sentry post favored by red engies on the map. The map has sooo many nooks and crannies that you can always find a place to hit the sentry where it can't see you.

No joke, on a typical 15 minute attack on Goldrush I can destroy 10 sentries or more (all depends on how fast they rebuild 'em!) with NO ubers. And I am NOT that good. Look at my stats lol!

The problem is, the team needs to pay attention to when sneaky demos are able to take out a couple sentries and GET OUT THERE to the CART!

The other day I destroyed 7 sentries in a matter of a couple of minutes, each time leaving RED with no sentries, but my team refused to get out there because they were afraid to die!

I'm with booster.

This map plays better on 24, both lag wise and gameplay wise.

I agree. 24 players would be better. The servers were laggy for me this weekend when loaded with 32 players and nossr50 and I played on level 1 alot. I overheard people begging players to let teams win so the map level would change.

One issue that might prevent you from winning is that your team may be too fixated on the cart. Focus on the enemies and obstacles first if what you're already doing isn't working.

i always find it useful to have a heavy medic using the cart as a shield and a sniper with them.

Every time I've played, BLU is either held down on the first map or RED is completely incompetent and BLU wins the entire thing in 5 minutes.

one thing i learned on this is that u cant do it by yourself u need good teamwork
if u just make a thousand 1 person pushes u wont go as far as if u had 1 to 2 team pushes (when waiting for your team u should have a spy to hit the cart so it doesn't go backwards)

biggest problem with goldrush is the last stage imo. at the last cap where everything funnels through that small passage between the buildings, it's hard to be offensive coming through there since demos and soldiers can just pound the area with stickys and rockets, and snipers can sit way back on the upper balcony/catwalk. there should be a more open, direct view towards the cap imo.

Most of the time when I play on offense we blow thorugh the first stage but then get stuck 5 feet away on the 2nd stage and I have actually never played offense on the 3rd stage. I wonder what it is like.

Ive played this board a lot and it was easy in the beginning to blow through everyone on offense. Now its hard because people know how to play the boards. Without good teamwork, offense will not win.
