Gold Rush (One sided victories)

The problem with offense on the 3rd map is people don't use the left side properly. The only time I've seen an offense win it is when they are pounding from the left side and the choke point up the middle. Otherwise your right, soldiers and demo's can easily make it almost impossible to get through that choke point.

I agree with Lafinass and Booster on this one, 32 just seems a bit crammed (not to mention spawning inside other players before the round starts).

If there are 2 Goldrush servers then the perfect solution would be making one 24 players, let us have choice.

All valve maps are for 24 players. We are stretching the sauce a bit adding 8 more players.

As far as 24 players servers goes, we've been told it is a thing of the pass and shall not even be considered at the moment.

I actually like the extreme difficulty of this map, because it REQUIRES teamwork to make any progress whatsoever.

And winning is oh-so sweeter on this map ;)

I have to agree with Kinetic, having the 3rd part of the map be rarely seen adds this level of mysticality to it, and in my mind gives both sides a reason to play harder. "This is the only time we're seeing this map for a while, let's not screw this up!" And as has been said many times before, it really feels like the whole map just encourages teamwork even more than the game does already.

Why not try one of the second goldrush servers at 24? I think it plays better at 24 however I think theres still a large incompetence when playing for that second cap point on #1. It's not that difficult, but no one likes to suicide themselves to keep the cart running when the actual fact is that you HAVE to suicide to keep pushing the cart.

When you have 3 engineers building sentries at that above spot or snipers not taking out the proper enemy snipers and its left to 1 demo man, 1 heavy and a pyro to take down an entire teams defense then you lose it easily. The offensive map is about aggression even if that means suicide.

But I do agree its better suited for 24 players.

I personally prefer 24 players servers. 32 players servers encourage players to spam nades, rockets, and whats not. With extra 8 players in the same area, that spam whatever will hit something sooner or later. It was the main reasons, I believe, Valve removed the grenades in the first place and later reduce the ammo counts for soliders and demomen. Just my observation.

Regarding the final point on Gold rush, the offensive team has only two ways to enter the final area, and spamming rockets, nades, and anything else with almost infinite supply of ammo from spawn areas makes it really difficult to win at the end. It is actually somewhat similar lay out as the final point in the Dustbowl so I expect you all will see more final explosions eventually.
