I propose a flamethrower with greater range but when the pyro take 50 damage to the tanks he explodes setting all those around on fire and reducing his ammo level to zero for it.

I propose a shotgun with a injector gauge for napalm that has less ammo and does less standard damage but sets people on fire!

And Finally I propose an axe that drips gasoline and anyone hit by it will take much more damage from fire, but the attack will be slower.

What do you guys think?

I think pyros should have Molotov Cocktails...like 6 of them at a time.

I like the idea of the axe that is on fire...that is kinda cool.

Maybe a bow with flaming arrows for a long range weapon...idk ill have to noodle on this some more.

yeah or that... that was more like an incendiary mortar though. But I want to run into enemies and they shoot me in the back and I explode, but it would also be a danger if you were around teammates and a sniper shot your tanks...

I would think that making the tanks vulnerable would get a little annoying after some time. You don't want to punish the entire team for one pyro's mistake. :)

it might need some refinements. Things have to have some good features. If you want to go kamakazie just go scout.

I say FIREWALL!!

The Pyro should be able to gain the ability to use a limited amount of gunpower and set it aflame. The gunpowder catches fire quicker than a flame thrower would, and the wall would only consist of crits, but the flamethrower would do less damage by itself, and cannot get crits. The Pyro would be able to get gunpowder ammo from dispensers, which would not deplete engi metal.

The Pyro should also be able to use that flame thrower to hover in the air for a limited time when it is pointed at the ground.

Using a flamethrower to hover is not only an absolutely silly idea, but one with essentially no practical value at all. I can't think of a single benefit for using it to hover and losing all offensive capabilities.

[/quote1210876785]It's not only to hover. If an enemy is over you, they can still catch fire, and you're not going that high up in the air. Try playing some FF (not sure if it is in TFC) and see how effective it is :P

Flamehovering (or wahtever it was called) is only in FF not in TFC. I would love to get that back! :D Not only the gliding but also the speed when you are shooting backwards. Man, that would be awesome.
This plus the IC and I would love the pyro so much. (never liked the napalm 'nades that much...)

I think the flamethrower should instead be a flamethrower, which, while doing very low damage at first, the burn damage increases with time, in total, 100 hitpoints of health are deducted. It sacrifices a speedy kill for a weapon which, gives the victim more time to seek aid, but if none is found, they will have lost a lot of health. This weapon does not disturb the balance of the pyro being short range. I call it: THE NEPALM SUPER SOAKER. No that was a joke. But you get the idea.

The shotgun is a tuffy - it certainly must not be able to be effective at long range, but it must be a fair trade off for the current one. It can't actually be 'better', but more effective at long range. My ideas are: a pistol which is more powerfull than current ones. IT MUST BE BETTER AT LONG RANGE, BUT USELESS AT CLOSE. A fair trade off - an unlockable piece of equiptment. The shotgun is the unlock I am least sure about, though.

Now the fire axe: when you have the fire axe out, you would be better with the flamethrower. It is a humiliation weapon. It must become a utility. A use similar to the ubersaw, but for pyro... hmm... I wonder. The pyro may have a meter which builds up to a special attack. It is a fire bomb. Three hits with the axe gives a right click special to either flamethrower equipped - the result: a demolike grenade which does splash damage to a max of 25hp but 50-75hp to a medic anytime, anywhere in the area. Of course, the burn damage is as usual 50hp - a weapon which causes retreat, leaving medics on 25-50hp. The axe fires slower than usual and does less damage. The final unlock.

I have thought hard of these ideas and if anyone has anything to add why not post it!! Seriously, though this is an improvement for the motolov idea and the long-range flamethrower. I want to see someone invent n alternative to the shotgun. IT CAN'T BE A WHOLE UPGRADE - just look at the balance of the medic weapons, people could easily live without the kiritz or blutsauger and I know people who have them but don't use them - the same goes with future weapons. However, the melée weapons can be complete upgrades, because no one goes hunting with them (except for the mongoloids who jump around with the bat?) So, thanks again - Haggus Mcgee

An idea I got today: Instead of a shotgun for the upgrade make it into a longer range flare gun that does a slight amount of damage and sets the target on fire but is breech loaded and has 1 shot before being reloaded. I think the incenadary rockets would imbalance the game as currently the demoman is the only class with an arcing fire making the pyro way better at taking out engineers...

I wouldn't mind seeing a pyro shotgun that fires slower but increase the burn time of enemies that have been set on fire

As far as the axe I think it would be interesting to see it do less damage but that can't be healed back, at least for some time.

This would both increase the pyros ability to be a jerk to the other team without overpowering it

and the flamethrower I guess it would cool if it had a longer range or maybe the ability to carom off of walls will less damage or increased fuel cost
