The new nVidia Cards and the new ATi cards are launching in the middle of june.
They will be the Geforce GTX 200 series and the HD4800 series.

What do you guys think about the new cards and how do you think it will perform (before the reviews start rolling in)?

I think it'll be a close match. ATi has really stepped up it's game lately and nVidia is still rolling out great video cards.

No matter which is better I'm going with ATi. And, in all honesty, I think that nVidia's new cards will be better.

As I play mostly source games I'll be going ATI too, I just prefer intel boards for overclocking and crossfire. The 4870x2 with 1GB of GDDR5, increased ROP's. Seperate shader overclocking (At last) !amazed I can't wait to see the benchies for it.

Sorry could not resist. But do you really need that much power?

Nope, it's overkill and I don't need it and my money could definitely be spent better elsewhere......

......but I'm an overclocker and I like overkill !lol

I currently run TF2 with 16xCSAA maxed out with no lag on an nVidia card. Anyways, will the new nVidia cards be DX 10.1?

Unfortunately due to the political shenanigans of microsoft/nvidia/ati, it seems nvidia will only support dx10. As far as I'm aware 10.1 gives ati a slight boost when applying AA in games but there's no major difference between 10 & 10.1

I see, I didn't notice much of a difference between DX9 and DX10 to be honest, maybe I'll notice it as time passes. I'm still a fan of OpenGL anyways.

There's only one publicly playable game that I know of that supports DX10.1, which is Assassin's Creed for the PC. This gave ATi cards an advantage (I don't know how much, I haven't seen the numbers for myself) over nVidia cards because the game was coded in 10.1. If nVidia sees that more developers are moving towards DX10.1 they will make their cores compatible with it.

DX10.1 has nothing to do with AA in games, that's a whole other story. A story I don't have time to tell at the moment, WTB inc! ;)

nooooooooo nvidia why i just bought your awesome 9600gt i dont want to have buy a new card to say i have the newest card
