Hello, I am a little nervous to keep playing on FiveM because of whether or not I will get banned from GTA V. According to Rockstar terms of service, it is not allowed to use the GTA 5 engine outside of GTA. So, I'm questioning whether or not using FiveM will compromise my GTA account. It would also be great if someone could provide an explanation as to how FiveM actually works.

In short: will using FiveM risk my GTA account of being banned? Why/why not?

You will not be banned. FiveM is a separate application using the resources of the game. It doesn't actually go onto GTA online or use Rockstar's Social Club, I'm fairly sure.

Using resources of the game goes against Rockstar terms of service, which is why I'm worried FiveM could lead to a ban

The chances are EXTREMELY low. I don't think anyone here has had any issue.

Kenny,

I haven't heard anyone getting banned for using FiveM. Our server has been up for OVER* a year and as far as I know, no one has been banned for using FiveM itself.

Your GTA V Online account will be completely fine. As Simon said, FiveM does not use Social Club, but instead uses your Steam; FiveM is technically called Source SDK Base 2007 on Steam.

Can confirm. Thousands of people play FiveM and I haven't heard of any recent issues between FiveM and Rockstar. There should be no reason why playing on FiveM alone should cause you to be banned from GTA O.

All FiveM is is a third party application that uses the actual game to allow you to play on modded servers. It basically runs your game and loads you into the server you want to join. You can also add mods to your FiveM alone so you don't have to modify your actual game (unless you want to).
