TF2 through the eyes of a child...

Im with you on that R.E.D my 6 year old son love to run around as the invisable man as he calls it, and hes not a violent child eather all kids are playing videgames now days it much better if your there with him a making sure he knows its fake then letting them play games that we dont really know whats going on in them.

I'd like to hear a reason for this.. why is violence ok but as soon as sex/nudity (completely natural things and actually beneficial to the species) bad? It's more a criticism of our culture which is completely retarded (and thus reflected in some of the rules of the community, no offense :P). I don't understand why violence, easily worse than sex/nudity and even swearing, is ok, but the other two are taboo.

I am happy to hear your child understands the difference between video games and reality though :D with all the things on the news about kids mimicing video games or shows... it just shows how bad parents are these days :\ its not the game's fault, not the show's fault.. only the parents. The day parents take responsibility for their actions (or lack there of) will be a day Hell freezes over.

Well I do have an answer for that one, from personal experience I know that being introduced to sex/nudity as you call it DOES INDEED mess up a kid, unlike animals we tend to look for an explanation of things to understand the world that surrounds us, an animal can see it's "parents" having sex and it does not have consequences...a kid will start wondering the "what", "why" and "who" of everything.

If I could go back in time I would prefer NOT to have known anything about sex until I turned 12 or 14...

Even if some relate it to a moral or religious connotation it is absolutely preferable to keep a kid out of the loop until he/she is ready to understand certain aspects of human behavior, its origins and consequences.

And just FYI, violence is ok only if it is done in a funny (three stoogies) way, remember Donald Duck or Bugs Bunny? Today's violence is so much different, therefore as parents it is our duty to cover our kids ears and eyes when something crosses the line.

And as djsatanwife said "making sure he knows its fake"...THAT is uber-important...

Hehe, it is a culture thing though. If you look at say Japan, they have family baths together, they don't see nudity as being a sexual thing. So it's really far more a culture thing it seems. Granted they did have the highest amount of pedophile stuff for a long time and they aren't very great towards women (very sexist and womanizing), but that's for different reason in their culture and not because they have family baths and can see nudity and not always relate it to sex or sexual things :P

Wow, it all makes so much sense now.... except the sniper :P.
That's a pretty impressive SG he drew there.

As long as the parent can teach the child to distinguish whats alright and not alright (considering any subject), it's for the better. I was taught about sex when I was 7 years old, by my parents, and I turned out fine. My view on sex is it's something that two people that have feelings eachother share. I'm against one night stands and all that jazz, which is way better imo that society's views on sex (BTW I'm not religious at all). I'm getting off topic, kinda, but my point is as long as the parents are doing their job and teaching their children about it to put it perspective and not letting any outside sources (friends, media, etc.) the child will be fine.
