So, I went to fire up TF2 just now and Steam said it couldn't contact the server and it was a network connection issue. My internet connectivity is just fine. I checked the steam site to make sure there wasn't a network outage on their side and they seem to be up.

So I was like, hey, I have a great idea, I'll just uninstall and reinstall the Steam app and see if that fixes it...

Yeah, it fixed it alright, it also deleted every game that I've purchased through Steam and now I have to download and install all of them over again...all 22 of them.

Moral of the story, try a repair instead of a reinstall.

Hate to say it, but wasn't it sort of obvious that would happen? All the games are installed through Steam...remove Steam...remove games. :/

backup your steamapps folder next time you uninstall steam. That has all your games in it.

You don't have to pay again right? I'm pretty sure all valve records are saved on the steam server/network. Yea you got to redownload but you're lucky it's not EA and you have to negotiate with them to get your game back.

Hah. you could have just deleted the .blob file.

Would have only had to download updates. Read the STEAM faq's if you have technical issues. They know.

I actually have the same problem as you BR74, as my connection as of three days ago stops working on all server (A lot of warping back followed by disconnecting) and a link to this site: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?p_faqid=374.)
I feel I also need to reinstall steam or fix it some other way (The .blob file?), but I need to first backup my orange box, which I'm doing really slowly as I'm not sure how to do it properly (And just cautious).

it took me 10 min to connect to steam.. whichs is pretty weird..
