Need help buying RAM.

I need help finding out what type of RAM I should buy and whether it would be worth it to go with 2gb or 4gb (if my pc can even hold it) If you could either help here, or on steam (my username is redflag46) that would be great! Thanks!

We can't tell what kind of RAM you need without knowing the motherboard. Since you have a Dell, you have a proprietary Dell MB (cheap). You will have to look in your owners manual for the type of RAM it accepts.

I'm sure Lafin covered this, but since you're probably using a 32-bit version of XP Pro, you'll be limited by how much RAM you can use.

The easiest way to figure this out is take 4096 and subtract your video card's RAM. That's about how many megabytes of RAM your computer will be able to recognize (1024MB = 1 GB). The number will actually be a little lower, but that'll depend on your system.

I've always found the best way to find RAM for the computer is to search up the computer model on the manufacturer website, then check to see if the website allows you to buy RAM for the computer. On the Dell website, most computer pages have an option to buy separate, guaranteed compatible, from which you can use the specs to buy a compatible RAM type from either the manufacturer, or a different company.
