Open Source Graphics Card

That's right, your eyes do not deceive you...

Apparently, there's currently an open graphics project that's now accepting pre-orders for their new card. It's a little pricey currently at a whopping $1500. But, thought I'd share this little tidbit of information I found, and see what everyones opinion and whatnot on the project was.

The only point I really see to this is for aspiring programmers to start with a bank slate and hardware, code and progress the open source by itself.

OOPs, reading more about the faqs, they say the purpose is just what I thought. A teaching and learning tool more than anything else. Similar to all university teaching tools, sticker price is high and if you order in mass, you get the discount.

Interesting none-the-less as I did not know cards like these existed. Not practical for commercial application imo.
