Whitelisting

Is there any reason why EGO doesn?t whitelist? Half the time the server is filled with public players and it makes it hard to get any kind of story lines going. Especially if the people on are just there to slay people and rob banks. I was just curious why at least one of the servers isn?t WL.

OH NO THE W WORD! run away! but anyways i also feel like it would be cool to have aleast one whitelisted server but there could be other reasons why it hasn’t been done but maybe it will be done. maybe someone can explain more about this.

I believe this has and is still being talked about amongst the GTA Leadership team, as well as the higher ups. I personally would LOVE this to happen. There are MANY people who I've encountered who are super into their role and character and it's always incredible to interact with them. Then you get the new people who just rob and shoot you everytime you try to do something involving RP with them.

It has been discussed. We kinda are to an extent that if you are a member we kick for members slots. If the server is full of memebrs then we are basically are whitelisted in a way.

We have a great playerbase, and leaving it open attracts new players pretty regularly. When we start kicking for member slots, you can see it now that everyone tries to pile into server 1. Server 2 does not have the same admin presence and it can sometimes turn into a nightmare. If new players are always playing in a "Wild Wild West" server it will not be as attractive. Whitelisted members I highly doubt will volunteer to play on the non white listed server, and this will result in a degraded experience for the other server.

As Hideout said, leaving an open server like we have it now attracts new players. I believe we should stray away from a complete whitelisted server as we pretty much kick non-members for reserved slots so in a way, it's "whitelisted".

I understand trying to attract new members to the server, but when there are so many new players on all the time asking how to do things using Twitter, or not RP at all it kills immersion and doesn’t give the more serious RP players a chance to develop any kind of story lines. Idk my character is still pretty new and maybe that will change, but I can honestly say I haven’t met many of the same people on the server twice. I feel as though I’m on a MP server (especially on server 2 lol).

My 2 cents- I believe the only players you will push away if you make a whitelist server are the kiddos that want to run and gun anyways. The more serious RP players look for whitelisted servers so they can develop thier characters and interact with the same peoples characters to create good RP storylines.

There are cons to having a whitelisted server in my opinion.. Having a whitelisted server would make all of the more experienced characters play on there and limit themselves to that server mainly. I think what we have now is nicely balanced and the member system encourages new players to join the community to get that reserved slot. But having a whitelisted server could come with perks as it would allow people who take it seriously to have a more in depth experience and can create story lines for their characters.

We've seen a few communities go whitelisted, and never rebound from being whitelisted.

We aren't like no pixle, and the issue is we don't have a 'custom' framework to work with. If we had extreme custom resources that would attract people, the I think we would go whitelisted, but since almost every server out there is almost near the same, its hard to come to terms with a whitelisted server.

Trust me when I say this, we talk about this in leadership almost daily the pros and cons of having one and not having one.

I certainly can respect everyone’s feedback. I am enjoying my time here, I just am just Looking for more of an in-depth RP experience. But to each is own. We will see how this plays out.
