5.25" Floppy in vista

hey all i was wondering before i make the effort to find it if my old 5.25" floppy drive would be recognised under windows vista... its just i found a load of disks and wanna check out their contents.

yeah - it SHOULD be able to read the drive just like any other. not going to make any guarantees, though

If you really took care of them they might be good 5-10 years. But the material has a property called hysteresis which somewhat determines how long it will retain the memory, or the alignment of the magnetic field. I forget what the life of the tape media used to be, but it does break down with time, just like DVDs last about 100 years.

vista should be able to read the floppy drive, and if not, its not that hard to take out again lol

I would if I have one - I have a bunch of old 5.25 disks I'd love to see the contents of someday
