Top 5 Favorite Maps

For nostalgia; I thought it would be fun to see what everyone's top 5 favorite DODs maps are. I was REALLY good at Argentan and Flash back in the day. Yes, in case you were wondering, I can cap the most flags on those maps too. :O

My list (#1 being the favorite):

1. Argentan
2. Flash
3. Orange Tower (variety)
4. Avalanche
5. Anzio

I had some fun memories playing these maps for sure. Let's see what conventional and crazy maps you list.

Awesome thread starter, Alicia! So hard though, so many good maps... and depends on your fighting style and weapon choice. I'm gonna say Avalanche is a given since we all play it frequently enough. All of yours were fun. Heck most DODs maps are fun.

My 5 from back in the day...

1 - Risk - board game + DOD = pure awesomeness
2 - Strand - miss the EGO Strand server
3 - Stug
4 - Dust 2 - epic battles
5 - Beaverville - fast and fun - if our server was dying this would always bring people back

Theres my crazy top 5. I'll probably have a different top 5 after some other people's posts jog my memory loose.

Great thread idea Alicia! Okay, I could get some flack for my first one... so let's say this is in no particular order...

1. Flash! I got to pick it once for realism and it was fun.
2. Risk - That was one of my favourite event maps!
3. Kalt
4. Churchyard was super cool for realism one night.
5. There was a fun bridge map for snipers... maybe this one? It was quite a while ago.

I've never heard of Risk + DOD. What is that? I had forgotten about Strand...I looked it up and yes I played that one and it was fun. I don't think I ever got the hang of Strand though. It is a reminder like Avalanche the poor Allies are always fighting an "uphill" battle. LOL

I don't know anything about the other maps. Thank you for sharing.

Your list brought back some positive memories. I had totally forgotten about the map Churchyard. I actually do remember playing this with fellow clan members back then. It was a really fun map and maybe if I recall had more of an open-world feel. Great choices and no flak! :thumbup:

Oh the tunnel path under the bridge on Anzio was always my favorite route....Anzio is great with a full server and when you have to be careful not to kill your own team. I forget if that is called FF on or off. I don't know if I played Flurry that much...I looked up a picture and seems familiar.

Those were my favorite maps to play back when I was a kid like 12 years ago, I don't play the game much but when I launched it a few weeks back I couldn't find strand anywhere anybody know what happened I thought a bunch of people loved that map?

Risk was an awesome map. You'd come back to life to see the entire board and who had the flags. You could pick which flag you would spawn by, walk to it and warp onto the real battlefield at that flag. It was just like the Risk board game. If the enemy took over that flag, you could no longer warp there. It was an all around fun map, regardless of whether you were sniper/rifle/automatic.

I'm noticing a lot of players really liked strand. My playing time was limited on that map, however, I have played Donner and enjoyed it. I would love to hide in that small room that separated the long courtyard hallway things near the Axis map. When the Axis player ran through that room I would shoot them in the back. LOL Always clear the corners! :chair:

I'm certain that I've never seen that map before...not sure why I haven't but that looks interesting. Plus, I've never played the board game Risk either. When I was a child my brothers and father would play a game called Stratego. It's kinda like a chess / checkers type game. I'm not sure if they played Risk or not. I look forward to some of the game images. Thank you.

I never played the original DOD but I did look up Glider images. It does look very interesting. I wonder why Valve didn't import any of the popular DOD maps into DODs!?!?!?! When I first began playing I can recall kind of a rift between DOD and DODs players. Many people would comment that DOD had better maps. Thank you for sharing.
