Ok so a lot of us can play for hours on end. It came to mind how much abuse we give our bodies during that time. Sitting in the same spot for half a day can't be good for you, so what are some things you can do to stay comfortable during long gaming period? I've come up with a couple, but post any others you have.

Drink water - Your body needs at least 8 glasses a day and you're sitting at a computer constantly sweating for hours on end. Don't get dehydrated. Drink before you need it and not when.

Stretch and rest your eyes - I don't what's more frustrating: being dominated or dealing with an aching back. Be sure to get up and walk around for ten minutes. Stretch your arms by extending one and bending your hand toward your head and then your chest. Relax your neck and just roll your head around.

Play in a lit room - I know its fun to play in the dark, but its not good on your eyes. Be sure to turn a light on.

Try to stay away from energy drinks - They're really not what you need. Go for a sandwich and some fruit.

Keep a good attitude! - The one thing that can bring your game down is to get frustrated. You're playing to have fun. Just laugh it off and do your best!

Well that's all I got. See you on Warpath. ;)

Well... Unless you Catch me late at night, even though I'm in game, I'm usually not sitting for too long. If you ever seem my character stop moving, I'm probably chasing my son :)

My advice to people: Play with people you like. Friends make everything better. I wouldn't enjoy TF2 near as much were it not for people like Glitch and Jehuty (among others).

I can't agree more. It just warms my heart when I hear this beloved "Shut up!".

Really doesn't strain your eyes, but they will hurt after a while so still a good deal.

Make sure your keyboard and mouse are in good positions for your wrists.

Bathroom breaks are important!! Worst thing in life is winning the round and then involuntarily wetting oneself.

GET ALL YOUR CHORES AND SCHOOL DONE FIRST!! So you aren't interrupted :p .

Get a fan and place it on you on low. Turn it off when you are going to use the mic unless you intentionally want to harass your teammates.

Use map load times or long respawn times to stretch and give your back a break.

Keep one headphone off if your parents are still up so you can hear what they say to you, but once they are in bed turn the knob up!!

Anything I missed?

That is SO true!!!

If you are feeling any pain then just get off.

Make sure that you have approval for your parents before you play. If needed, make it written approval. So when your parents randomly come over to you and say "get off" you can tell them that you have the legal right to play. (Trust me, this is important)

Also, if you want to get off, but you can't (like when you have the "just one more life" disease) then just let me know and I'll help you out. (And by helping you out, I mean that I'll kick you!) <------jk :)

You'd have to be really addicted if in order to get off you have to ask an admin to kick you.

Also: Banning yourself is NOT a good way to cure an addiction.

if the screen gets real fuzzy and you see a long tunnel with a bright light at the end, turn around and run like hell. Then turn your computer off for a few days :P

Lol ain't that the truth. Its hard to stop once you get going. ;)

If your seat cushion on your computer chair has butt indentions, you've been playing too much.

Lemme check.....

Oh geesh.....

:)

My laptop has wear on the metalic part at the lower-left of my keyboard from my left hand resting on the keys =X Haha

Yeah, the water part is definately helpful, I occasionally get a very tall glass of water that will last me a good hour before i finish it.

Once you start drinking water, it helps you stay focused and able to do extended game sessions.

Play with people you like, well ain't that the truth.
Love playing with everyone (especially Nemo) :D Everyone except Jehuty. Can't stand his constant 'shut up hardhat' comments ~:(

dont run build a sentry and then call for a medic to uber you..."Thank you doctor....."

Couple of tips I have:

- sit near an open window... at least then you still get fresh air if its not too warm.
- yes, like everyone said, water is great for you. i typically switch between flavored and normal.
- turn off all messengers with the exception of steam. you won't get disturbed with stupid things from other people.
- if in doubt you've been on for too long, f10 yourself and you'll have no problem getting off the game.
- keep a clear mind. don't let stupid things around the house (from girlfriends, other people) bother you.
- speaking of girlfriends/etc, those people are always nice enough to offer you a drink when they get one.. take them up on their offer even if you don't need a drink as of yet.. it'll pay off so you don't have to get your lazy bum up during the 37/0 streak you're on while playing 2fort. =D

Anyhow, yeah, those are simple things I do.. I also have never rage quit tf2 as of yet, but hey, it could happen.

HAHAHA perfect example Drew!

My new rule is if I find that I've gained 1,000 HLX stats in one session I take at least a 2 hour break.

Don't neglect your significant other for gaming!

Really, its not worth it.

Agreed 101%.

If my husband or my son need/want something, the game goes off, no questions asked.

Water is very important, but you dont NEED 8 glasses (refering to pints i think), because whilst you need 8 pints of water a day, most of that comes from your food. The mistake came from a 1945 newspaper article i believe. Another piece of knowledge from the bank of X. :)

However, yes these are great tips, i also find that its best to change your seating position at least every 60 - 120 seconds (possibly a sign of ADD/OCD/being plain hyper there :D ). Then you tend to need less breaks.
Widening your eyes and blinking while looking away from the screen is good to do as a common task, we wouldnt want a headache to ruin anyones WArpathing now would we? :)
