Window Mode Not Working

I tried to switch my game over to be played in a window from the options menu in the TF2 game. Unfortunately it doesn't want to start up now. I can't get it to launch beyond the opening "Valve" scenes.

It shows the scene in a window but once its suposed to go to the "Loading..." scene, it just closes the window.

Can anyone help me with this?

Alt+Enter doesn't work anymore to go full screen? Try alt enter, if not search for how to edit the config file to start in full window. Some one must have had this problem before. Or remove the game, TF2 and reinstall.

I would also check if you have an ATI the compatibility issues for which ever Catalyst drivers you have, should have the latest, some times this kind of problems are listed. Who knows, updating might fix it if you don't have latest drivers. .

If all else fails delete the config file, steam will generate a new one.

If you're able to locate it, I would try to delete the configuration file(s) as Nossr50 suggests - although I myself cannot seem to locate them. No matter what effort you pursue, TF2 can be run in windowed mode from Steam by doing the following:

* While in Steam, click on the "My Games" tab.
* Right-click Team Fortress 2
* Click "Properties"
* Click the "Set launch options..." button.
* Add "-windowed 1" to the text box.
* Click "OK"
