My first motorcycle wreck

Low-speed handling (less than 10 mph) is actually much harder. Part of the California riding test for the class M license involves doing a figure-8 in a area 20-feet long and 1 lane wide. The object is to keep the bike within the white outline and not put your feet down on the pavement. That's pretty hard to do on a Harley (unless you're on a Sportster).

I took the Harley Riders Edge class and they had that...... and I hated it!
 
Had a Busa for 5 yeras before selling it last year so I could play around more wtih wheelies. Got my brothers R1... Doing a first-gear stand-up wheelie and it started to go back, so shut it down and the stearing-damper was not set to restrictive. When it came down, it was slightly off and flipped me. I was at the top end of the first, meaning I was about 88-90 mph when I spilled on the pavement. Stupid me; I didn't have a helmet or jacket on. I just had gloves, jeans and t-shirt. I broke a couple of ribs, pulled some of the muscle back from my spine (ended up being by far the most painful part of the recovery), broke my right clavical in two places, and of course a bunch of road rash because of the t-shirt and thw the whole skipping along the pavement thing.

I might post some injusry pics sometime for those that might want to see. I had my brother take a few after I'd been released from the hospital. And just a hint: No, Oxycodone only works so far when the pain is strong enough.
 
So my wrist is way more thrashed than I thought. I wont be able to ride or play bass for 2-3 weeks, and my guess is y'all wont see me on the server for a week or so. =/

WOW, glad you are basically ok. I had a crash like Proteous on my 2004 Yamaha FZ1. Too fast into a left hended curve going to work one morning, at about 55 mph. hit the breaks, locked the front breaks, and layed it down on it's left side, sliding on the pavement at 55 mph, on my back, head first. the bike kept hitting me and i was kicking it away as i slid into the curb. broke several ribbs on left side and completely broke my left scapular, shoulder blade, in half. Doctor said he has never seen a shoulder blade broke completely in half before. Lots of road rash to both elbows and knees. 07-19-05, and it still hurts sometimes. Glad you both are ok after your accidents. Don't ride angry and stay within your skill level in now my slogan....... 8)
