Limiting map games

Proposal:
Ever had a map that the Wardens picked breakfloor every round? What about colors every round? I've heard numerous people complain and bicker saying
"We're playing this again?"
"If we play this game again, I'm leaving!

and so forth.
How about we propose a new rule stating, Wardens are not allowed to pick map games that have been played already in the previous round.

What this would change:
This will bring forth a variety of positives such as:
  • Happier Players
  • More game variety
  • New experience
  • Force games other than Breakfloor, Colors, Bhop or Climb EVERY ROUND
  • And many more...

The negative
Obviously you're going to have a few people that will counter argue this new rule with various excuses, but I can not think of any negative other than "no", "thats stupid", or "some games are broken which is why we pick the same games over and over"

Well, while some games may be broken, there are a lot of other games, and other creative ideas to make things more interesting.

Over all outcome:

This will give players a fresh experience in map game play, give them the ability to take a break from some games they may not excel well at. I am terrible at bhop, and it seems like once we're on clouds, bhop is almost an everyround thing. Or even vipinthemix, that map is constantly dodge course, bhop, custom cancer jump on pillars and breakfloor.

Essentially, in a wrap:

If you're on clouds, and you play bhop, climb, and bomb toss.
The next round, (even if its a different warden but has to be same map)
you will not be allowed to pick those games, so instead, you can choose from soccer, dive, red light green light, that color hotel thing, or even surf.

Again, this is only a suggestion. Please give educational feedback instead of immature useless comments. Thanks for reading!

I'm 100% sure this is coming from the map jb_vip_in_the_mix LOL.

Well imagine we are on map jb_obama. How many games we got there for as 1st game? Only one or two max. So if you gonna refrain from playing the only games we got, we can't go ahead with the round. Also on Vip_in_the_mix, the closest and safest game is breakfloor or pillar jump. You know how difficult it is for the CT's to get the T's out of the main cells without them rebelling. So rather than going all the way to bhop/colors, they choose breakfloor or pillar jumps and eventually to finish the round, dodge course.

I don't think CT's should keep a track of games they played or not and refrain from playing the same games because of the limitations of games on few maps.

I think wardens should ensure that half the Ts are shot for twitching while stacked in cell block before the remaining half are forced to play two games in which most are killed per game until two Ts are left. Seems thats what CTs and Ts like.

Also maps have 30 games, if they aren't already playing them, throwing more rules on top will not force them. They will just change the order or slightly modify the games and thus a loop hole appears.

But thats the thing, get creative. I can think of numerous ways to play vipinthemix with this rule. And it isn't hard to remember what games you played last round.

And rogue sniper, im not exactly understanding what you mean.
You mean to tell me VIPINTHEMIX has 30 games?

I can think of many ways to play many maps. In fact, its not hard and you can lead a horse to water, but that doesn't mean they'll drink it.

Be the change you want to see, be the warden that does different games each round, be willing to help and guide the CTs and suggest to them to do the same.

Don't throw overbearing and restrictive rules at them. Rules scare and frighten them easily...

Although this might bring some positives to the table, some wardens can fit a lot of games into a single round, and if half the map games were limited in the next round, it would just cause a pattern of games, to be fair I would dislike the server more if it was like "oh this round we are doing jumprope, csgario, strafejump, next round is colors surf and decath, and this round is now tap terrorists, spelling bee," if the server was just a pattern of games, I feel like the problem has not gone away at all. This rule even being suggested is a lack of creative and fun wardens, and in my opinion kind of shows the direction jailbreak is heading.

EDIT:
This suggestion seems to have taken effect with the rule changes to the jailbreak server:
The first game played at the start of each round must be a map game that can be stopped or recalled. This game cannot be the same game played at the start of the previous round.
Games cannot be played twice in the same round.
This new addition to the rules does not allow you to play the same game multiple rounds in a row (as well as removing the much hated marker race first game), and with this change to the rules it will hopefully accomplish many of the things you wished for with this thread, such ad the increase in variability and enjoyability while playing the server.

I only suggested this rule because numerous CS 1.6 jailbreak servers I played had this rule, and it worked flawlessly and was never a problem to anyone. nor did anyone feel restrictive by it. They just learned to be creative and use other games. If we're concerned about maps not having enough games, then we need new maps to give a variety anyway. Because we always play the same games. So New maps?

At most we had a rule saying you couldn't play the same game twice on a round and also maybe something like one of the games you played from the previous round was off limits the next round (maybe or something like the first game was off limits the next round) though we got rid of it. Some maps also lock out games or the games just break like you said...

We should consider new maps then. Because its very repetitive on maps and map games.

There's about 15 or so that have been suggested and about 8 of those are on the FTP and from eGOs Jail Server... So that's pretty much gonna happen eventually around winter or spring 2019 I guess.

I've actually been considering suggesting a rule similar to this that will replace the "Games that cannot be stopped or do not have a recall must not be the first game of the round." for quite some time now.

My suggested change will be:
1. The first map game played at the start of each round cannot be the same map game played at the start of the previous round.
Exception: If the game provides multiple attempts the warden must not force the T’s to complete the game in one try.
2. The first game played at the start of each round must be a map game.

Although this suggested replacement is not perfect I feel like it will encourage game-play much better than the current rules. This change will also remove custom non-map game skill jumps first try and marker race at the start of the round.

There are more than 2 games on obama, the problem is that the CT's are too scared to play any other game because of the tiny spaces they have. Obama has a wide variety of games, like climb (easy, hard, water), deathrun(second half still broke ;-;), roulette, red light green light, maze, the price is right, invis climb, race, jumprope, dropdown, the dropball game, the color game in the corner where all the cts hide in hns. If knowledgable people pursue warden and play all these games I think they less knowledgeable wardens will expand there game instead of easy climb, then instantly marker games.

We should consider new maps then. Because its very repetitive on maps and map games.

We have plenty of maps. People just don't want to play most of them. It has nothing to do with how many maps we add, but how many votes those maps get.

We had the same issue on eGO jail.

We have map rotation at a very high number. You can only play the same map 9 hours later (if there are no RTVs). Of course we do still see VIP/August/Arcade/Peanut/Undertale/Clouds/Minecraft nearly every 9 hours. I don't see this as a problem though.

Look at the last 9 hours - we've seen paradise, spy v spy, mist and Longstreet. Prison M has came in and gets played roughly once a day too.

We can add more maps and they will get played if they are wanted. If we want to see a huge variety in maps, we could go with 30/45min map times, with a 12-16 map cycle. (not supporting this necessarily, just explaining our options within the mechanism).

Of course though, if map time is lowered, this gives players less time to learn the new maps when chosen early on, which will lead them to getting picked less, as people won't know them so won't vote them.

As long as the effort is made by the player base to try new maps, and they become well-known, they will do fine, and will reduce repetitiveness.

Eh, in reality it would just complicate the game more. Imagine being swapped or fired because you forgot you played game X last round. I do agree that games are overplayed and the Warden should choose a variety, but that just makes a good warden from a bad warden. I just see it as an unessary change, I also haven't been on JB recently so I dont know the current attitude and chemistry of JB right now.

I do like what Jacko Posted tho:

Somebody can get me a printer to print out all these new suggestions? Also, I would need 2 packs of paper and a lot of ink. Thanks!

Like it's said on many threads. we do not need to specify everything. If it's against the rules or hindering the game rn, an admin can take action. Otherwise, show other wardens how to play properly!

This was added in the new rule update:

The first game played at the start of each round must be a map game that can be stopped or recalled. This game cannot be the same game played at the start of the previous round.
