Yes people do get in police chases at 150mph+ and if they crash the car their either dead or going to prison, as far as the impound goes $750 is a little on the low end for getting in a chase. In most cases police will terminate a chase if the car is going too fast and will try to catch them with the plate if they get it or will attempt to find it with additional units further ahead if possible.
