So, imagine this, you are driving down a mountain pass in Japan in your yellow RX-7 in the middle of the night, drifting every corner as you do so. Then you see a pair of headlights start chasing you in your mirror. The shining lights get closer, and you say to yourself, "Is that an MR2? or Maybe a 180?" You continue racing down the mountain, and the car behind you has closed the gap. When you start drifting the next corner, you look back, and what you see surprises you. "What?! An Eight-Six?!" you try to go as fast as you can but you can't shake the little car off of your tail. You hit your brakes to slow down for the next corner, and the 86 flies past you without touching his breaks. "Doesn't the driver of that car even know this road?" You say to yourself, "after this slow right, there is a sharp left, if he doesn't slow down, he is going to be in that ravine!" The 86 continues. "I knew it!" you yell, "That idiot is going in too fast! There is no more room to slow down!" As the 86 is turning right, it's tail gets loose and starts drifting, and to your amazement, he flicks his tail to the right side of the road and flies around the sharp right-hand turn with flying colors. You think to yourself, "What the hell?! Inertia drift?" You try to follow him but you spin out trying to do so. You are left with the sight of the 86 leaving you behind.
This took too long to write lol. This scene I described is from an anime/manga called Initial D. It's a great story about Japanese mountain racing, and if you like cars, you'll love it. In fact, you don't even have to like cars to get into it, because when I started watching it, I didn't like cars. But then the anime transformed me into a car guy. The anime itself is about a guy named Takumi Fujiwara, who practices his driving every morning while delivering tofu to a place at the top of a mountain. He ends up getting caught in the street racing scene and get's challenged by a number of drivers. That's pretty much it, and it's been my favorite anime ever since I finish watching it.
Has anybody else seen this great anime?
