Shorten rounds on dust 2 to 1:30. This would prevent the few people that camp the entire 3 minutes from delaying the game when 95% of the team is dead and sitting there watching players not attempt the objective. This would also remove the need to admin T spawn campers as the rounds are short enough to not delay the game. A shorter round would also encourage more rushes from both sides as having players on T alive at the end of the round prevents a CT from getting an MVP star.

Granted I don't play Dust2 as much any more with other commitments, but a few years back we actually ended up extending the round time because players at the time were not happy with the idea of being almost forced into rushes every round. And, to be honest, it seems like rushes will end up in a CT victory 9 times out of 10 anyway with how the map is designed combined with the number of players. Considering Dust2 is predominantly a server filled by non eGO members, changes like this should probably be avoided until we get those players involved in the decision.

For example, a few years ago when the server slots were expanded from 48 to 64, a large portion of the players were upset about this changed, partly due to the fact they had no idea it was coming. This lead to a bit of mayhem and several forum threads popping up addressing this. A common concern of the players was the amount of flashbangs, m249s, and of course the round time not being long enough to compensate for the new player limit. The solution? I spent about 2 hours a day for 4 days talking to as many people in the server as I could to get their feedback on the state of the server and the changes they would like to see. And, in the end, everything seemed to turn out great and many even contacted me afterwards saying they were pleased with the changes that went through.

So does the round time still need to be 3 minutes long? No, perhaps not. Maybe 2:30 is a slightly better round time. As I mentioned, dust2 is a rather unique server due to the large percentage of players that are not in eGO. If you'd like, I wouldn't mind helping you run this idea by the players of the server to see if we can get their thoughts and come to a nice compromise.

Well they have the opportunity to voice their opinion here on the forums. If they do not, it's their fault. But that's just my opinion. I feel the time should stay the same though.

Driving pubs who aren't a part of eGO to the forums is VERY difficult. Especially dust2 regulars. We don't see them on here - they've been playing the server for years but never visit our site. They just want to play. We have the same thing on DoD avalanche - exact same players day to day, but only a handful ever go on the site (and not frequently enough). Both servers only see a handful of eGO members as well. Point being, making any sort of decision there has to be carefully done. We end up going into the server over the course of several days trying to get a general consensus.

I would say 2:10 would be a good time for the rounds. There still needs to be time to make plans happen.

And Dust 2 regulars are something different. Most of them don't have a member rank, but I respect their craft.

What is this round at right now Cascsiany Cascsiany ? If I remember correctly it is 2:30. I don't want to shorten it too much because then it gives a pretty hefty advantage to CTs because the Ts are rushed to get their act together. From playing on Dust2, it is sometimes difficult to organize 20+ people to cooperate with each other.

Gotcha, what do you think most of the pub players say with this type of idea?

I'll feel them out the next few days about it. You've got some that literally die within the first 30-45 seconds and then have to sit watching and waiting for the others players to do something or as happens frequently camp the rest of the round. Having played T pretty frequently, I can say it gets pretty old losing because 4 or 5 players don't attempt to plant.

Had a few adamant Yes and few adamant No. Most gave no response at all. Yes barely beat out no but again a very very small percent even responded (about 20 people total). Most of those that said yes thought 2:30 would be a good time.

Doesn't seem like there is enough support for either way to change anything. For now we can leave it, but if we see an overwhelming desire from the playerbase to change the time then we will change it.

Thank you!
