Have 97000 people created accounts on eGO? If so that is crazy.

Pre-DAPS applications is about 28k. This also contains duplicates, denied, etc.

Most eGOs are inactive because if leadership steps down and goes inactive, they get demoted to eGO.

Not surprising at all! G's aren't junior admins, but admins in training. It's always meant to a temporary position.

Usually if someone goes inactive, they keep their rank on the database, but they won't have their permissions. And yes, if they abuse they will be demoted.

We don't demote for time AFK - we do request they get retrained if they are inactive for long periods of time.

Yep, infact, most people have spells of months when they don't play. The permissions used to be removed if you didn't log into the forums for 3 weeks, but you still kept your rank and could get them back whenever you returned. I don't know if that's still the procedure now, but yes, you could come back in 5 years and still be a G.

Yes for the rank, like Mats said, but if someone with a really popular name like Nick, or David, go inactive for a few years, and someone else comes in, earns a nice reputation, and wants to be a Nick or David, leadership may knock their name out. I believe at least.
