Okay guys, here it is: I LOVE MUSIC! I love it so much. So many different styles, so much talent...so I decided to start a thread where you can post videos of what you think are epic acts of musicianship.
Couple of pointers:
-Doesn't matter WHAT KIND OF INSTRUMENT, as long as it IS an instrument. Some of you may argue with me, but DJ scratching and drum machines, though they DO require talent, are NOT acts of musicianship.
-They can be solos or group acts.

I'll start us off with some bits from a show called "Bowfire".

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=URBV1k69j1Y]First off is George Gao playing "Galloping Horses" on an Erhu: a Chinese stringed instrument. Never thought I'd hear "fiddling" from anything other than fiddles![/link]

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=8v2RGohyNVI]Next up is Ray Legere playing the fiddler's classic "Orange Blossom Special".[/link]

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=UfIfZy2X9MU&feature=related]Next is a group effort called "Klezmer Medley".[/link]

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=9Hnl4AZ10uQ&feature=related]Another little group taste, playing "Sally Goodin Medley". Can't remember the guy's name on the left, but he's actually a hockey player![/link]

Let's make this one a popular one, guys. ;)

Okay, I had to add one last Bowfire clip. This one's from the today show, and much better at showing off the different styles of the show.

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PmGZ1Kg_pQ]Bet you didn't think they could DANCE, too, eh?? And no...that is NOT RIVERDANCE! This is not Celtic. This is actually Appalachian-style fiddling and dancing. Due to the heavy Irish influence of the time, it DOES LOOK CELTIC, BUT IS NOT.[/link] :)

Jimi Hendrix doing Voodoo Child at Woodstock is one of the best. Monterey Festival blowing the roof of the house with Rolling Stone's greatest performance ever. There is a rare Jimi track in the Mixdown Masters called Electric Church Jam which is my favorite Jimi track. I would have posted Tom Waits's Closing time, he does an amazing piano.

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=MFLy8eGtSYo]Star Spangled Banner[/link] AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Perhaps the greatest guitarist of all time, Django Reinhardt

can't have a thread of epic acts of musicianship without some tommy emmanuel

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmMSnq0RxJ4[/ame]

he's got a bunch of videos up, just google his name

This was by myself when I had a trombone final, I did a blues song and kept it pretty clean but when I got to the solo I laid down on the floor, ran around on the ground whilst soloing, got some epic laughs, then procedded to DJ my slide which also got epic laughs.

I really should've filmed it >_>

I'm at work so I can't link youtube or anything, but I suggest searching for a live Sigur Ros playing, and watching their lead singer play guitar with a cello bow. Really cool.

Oh, so I've posted this somewhere before, but I've always loved [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnqpOFcBiMM]Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover[/link].

You guys make me happy. :D

I'm a bit of a fiddle nut, in case you haven't noticed, so here's another:

[link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=M-QcOPNFI6s]Devil Went Back to Georgia by Johnny Cash. A little weird, visually, but well worth it to hear the fiddle at the end. Amazing to see the new blood play against Charlie Daniels![/link]

epic huh? how about epic AND gaming all rolled into one?

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZpD0btOZx8]ever seen two guitars at once?[/link]

Andy McKee has quite a few videos on Youtube, but here's one of my favorites:
[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvar4ZsqsEo]I mainly like it for the type of guitar[/link]
[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddn4MGaS3N4]one more by Andy[/link]

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSUX9byu6NY]And now for something completely different...[/link]

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDyIC3NYiSA]A completely different look at Smells Like Teen Spirit[/link]

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xd7vRIrTRk]and finally just some decent bass[/link]
