Make Avalanche Great Again

Hello,

Unfortunately, with what seems to be a shortage of full-ranked (eGo) admins playing in the evening (PST), the Avalanche server has become very toxic to play on. There has been excessive profanity, gender attacks, racial slurs, homophobic slurs and overall over-the-top negativity. Scroll through tonight's chat logs for examples. When there are admins on...players will openly mock them as well.

Whether by mic or text it is out of control. This is beyond reporting any specific player...when it seems like a revolving stream of players constantly violating the server rules.

Competitive banter (which I enjoy) is one thing but what has been occurring for several weeks is extreme. In the past Admins controlled this negative behavior. Now it's just a free-for-all with what seems like a boys will be boys standard. This isn't a woe is me plea. I just want you to have an honest assessment and understand it isn't a "family" friendly server any longer. It's quite the opposite of your brand.

I've decided to take a break from eGo for a while and play on other servers. I hope someday your Avalanche server will be a fun and friendly place to play again.

Best of luck,

Ali

I will start playing again and see if I can help out! I do suck at the game so sorry for that.

Thank you. Since London has been away and other regular admins haven't played as much I've noticed this negative trend. I appreciate your willingness to help.

i just mute annoying guys on mike and ive learnt not to look at most of the type chat which is why i dnt always answer questions or reconise ups all the time, try playing axis far friendlier bunch of guys most of the time ,so stick in there do your own thing let the idiots be idiots, most of the players i play with like your agressive style of play, but you can also be annoying lol stick in there

Sorry to see that Alicia. Unfortunately I've been very busy with real life and haven't had much time for gaming anymore, and a bit of a lack of interest. I hope the player base can shift back to being more positive.

I guess it's a bit of a sign of the times, with so few Edgegamers admins playing anymore.

Ali, I completely agree. There are some folks that come on that are completely out of control and that is stating it nicely. Gasextreme is a good example of this. Its frustrating to have people like this join the server and attack people verbally. I too mute people often, but most of the offenders type these insults. Gasextreme once said directly to London Blitz that he wished he had died in the war?! Gas still plays and insults everyone at no costs. The sometimes sexist, racist and foul languange has kept me from letting my teenage kids play as well. We need more admins and more people banned for these type of comments.

Thank you for replying Simon. There seems to be a lot of dedicated and good people who play on the server. Maybe they have never been recruited!?!? Possibly they think being an admin is too time consuming. I am far to vindictive to be an admin and do not have enough time...but there are players who would be outstanding in that role. You should try some "selective" recruiting. With a new crop of 5 to 10 good admins you could have better coverage and management of negative behavior.

Jim, I totally agree. It seems people who continually behave negatively may get a short ban and then continue the behavior. As a community we have no clue who gets banned or for how long. Admins may not either with so many repeat offenders.

I think you would make an excellent Admin. If you think of any others would make good admins you should encourage them.

Hey Alicia,

We used to try and recruit a bit but sorta stopped maybe 2-3 years ago? We found at the time that anyone we talked to was either not interested in joining, had already been asked before, were part of another DoD group, or just didn't care.

Now, granted, that was 2-3 years ago now...

If there are any players you think might make a good admin, just send SuperGlue a message with some details about them and let him know, so long as they are a member :).

Unfortunately I've sorta stepped away from eGO at this time. I'd love to help out the server and keep it thriving longer but, other things have taken my attention. I recently stepped away from my leadership position within eGO to focus on real life and myself a bit. Glue has been very busy too between work and family.

But yes, if you do see some prospective e's, let him know and he can see about moving them up to help out. I don't think anyone wants to see that kind of behaviour here.

Side note to the user that mentioned GASXTREME - we have been notified of his behaviour and he was banned by me and one point as well, so he's fresh off of that. Hopefully he is removed for good.

I will be able to come online a bit more soon this house move has become a giant hassle in my life so it should complete soon hopefullu

Alicia's not wrong -- people downing people because they're wearing ego tags, people downing people and being extremely verbally abusive because they're women, lots of racism, etc. Not quite sure I understand why some people are basically jack-wagons on a free server they don't have to pay for... but I have a solve. People are entitled to their own opinions and beliefs, but that doesn't mean the rest of us need to hear it or care... If:

1) you don't like EGO, quit being an ingrate and don't play on their servers (duh...)

2) you don't like women, join a monastery (do us a favor with a vow of silence as well) [and please stay away from little kids, you know who you are]

3) you don't like the government or politics (Democrat or Republican), move to a different country or OR (this is a killer idea for you) find some friends in real life to talk politics to, or just shut it and shoot because the rest of us don't care

4) you don't like other races or ethnic people, then stop eating tacos, burritos, pizza, fried chicken, grits, waffles, spaghetti, sushi, sesame chicken, fried rice, gyros, or at any place that isn't McDonald's, Burger King, or Wendy's, loose a few pounds and move out of your Mom's basement so you don't get her in trouble with the FBI as you express your views with your other racist friends over a Big Mac and a Coke while hitting a little meth and planning your next domestic terrorism attack -- and let the rest of us alone who just want to play and focus on the game and have fun.

5) if you don't like me because of what I just said, I'm on Avalanche most nights feel free to do your best to rage at me there - I'll most likely just mute you and then shoot the crap out of you though, while I continue to have fun at your ungrateful, woman hating, racist, left nut missing from a jackass stunt expense. Oh, and feel free to "!down monster" - it really hurts my feelings and makes me sad inside, but well played... well played.

Warmest Regards,

monster

Sorry to hear that Alicia. It was always fun playing with you. I moved to our BF group about a year ago now and mostly play Fortnite or BF5, but I was in playing DODS the other night and streaming. The server seemed mostly behaved, but perhaps because I was there. I will try to play a few hours a week on it and see if we can tame the crowd a bit with an admin being there. DODS is where I started in eGO :)

I will try to play more often. Thank you for letting us know.

The past year, I have sometimes come to play DOD:S,

and as much as i wanted to play Avalanche, I just couldn't bring myself to play,
its because I love the game, that I didn't want to play it to the point of it being monotonous.

Playing the same map, all the time, over time, it just becomes monotonous. and it really
isn't mentally healthy to just keep doing the same task repetitiously. I think that is part of
why we had so many people leave as well... is the reluctance to "change" anything.

I appreciate tradition, and I think many people may appreciate the fact that is one thing
we can count on maps like Avalanche, that it never changes... but if we also start to lose
our actual core community, because nothing ever changes... then our tradition of keeping
things the same, starts to become a moot point.

People enjoy change, as long as it is "Good" change... like every year, there are
Christmas presents left behind. this feature did not break the game, and our members still
keep returning... whether this feature people considered a good change or not, does not
matter as much... but proves a point..... that we can still change and make adjustments to
our "MAIN" avalanche server.... and our members will keep coming back... because if
london has taught us anything... is its more than just the 'map' that keeps people coming
back.... but it is our sense of community.

Princess Alicia, on a chat server i chat on... i see a lot of what you suggest, depraved
behavior and attitudes, and just a lot of 'bad' behavior... i felt so strongly about it, and i
wanted to change it.... that I literally had to beg to be made admin. lol my point is....
sometimes, if you want to see changes so badly, you have to roll up your sleeves, and do it yourself.
Alicia, i think you would make a great admin... and it's because you think you have a vindictive
attitude, if you recognize your faults, you can usually correct them before they become a problem.
I highly urge you to apply to be an admin... and I would be happy to help you through your
training if you are accepted.

Londonblitz put his reputation on the line and helped make me an eGO... it would be nice to try
and pass that along to someone else, who i think is worth it.

If any of the other admins, would like to get with me, about helping to make some server
changes, i would also be happy to donate some of my time to help make some improvements,
to try and get people back in the game... and not just "in" the game, but "enjoying" themselves.

If we put our minds together, and with a bit of persistence, we can accomplish anything.

i would like to add that, i also have a lot of technical skills that can be made use of,
i am knowledged in many computer languages and i can be very creative, and i think
i have a good sense of style, in that... i know how to make changes, without taking
away from the appeal of the game (and ww2 vibe).

i have created maps before, and edited scripts.

i also am good at working with others... not listening to just our core ego players, but
also listening to the thoughts and opinions of our members. feedback is important to me.

i also am willing to admit when i am wrong about something... if something doesn't work,
i would rather admit to being wrong, than to carry on with my failures.

the one thing i believe we should never do, is stop trying.
