Is anyone of you running Vista 64bit, and are you able to play TF2 and other source related games successfully? Reason I am asking is that I loaded my system with the 64 bit version, but when starting TF2, it got to the screen where you see the baldheaded guy followed by the screen with the "Source" logo, and then the game bails out on me. I have been able to play TF2 on this sytem with a Vista 32 bit version. So far I know the source engine is also written for 64 bit OS.
I have not been able to find any articles on this one the source web-site.

Thanks,

I'm running Vista 64 and that happens to me sometimes... if I exit an unreal engine 3 game (GoW/Bioshock) and start TF2- It keeps minimizing maximizing the TF2 screen just after the source logo. Sometimes it's fine and I can play other times I get a hl2.exe error. Appears to be completely random though.

I'm running crossfire 2900's the above happens. With crossfire disabled it's fine.

Thanks for the response. I have no association with any software, it happens actually on a fresh install of the OS (with no other programs installed), but at least this confirms that I am not the only one running into a similar problem. I'll contact the valve forum and see what I find there. Once I know more I'll post it. Thanks again for the input Bosco.

I also run Vista 64, and occasionally have the game stop right as the bald guy diasappears,a s well as have had the min/maxing of the screen. But I will say both have happened to me with Vista 32 as well so I figured it was something else. Usually I just shut steam done and restart it and its fixed. At worst I have had to restart the computer and it works after that, but that is extremely rare.

Thanks all for you response. I actually have a second question related to this. Reading on the steam site, there is also an issue with NVIDIA boards (however this should all be fixed with SP1). What video solutions are you guys using? I as a matter of fact do run NVIDIA 6800M, but SP1 still failed to run successfully under 64 bit (it only runs 32 bit, since Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 lost coast) are the only two games which run in true 64 bit mode).

1920x1200 And I never ran any source before sp1 with Vista 64, because I didnt get my disc till SP1 was out and it came on the disc.
