Speed Traps Make No Sense.

I know this is a topic that has been brought up tons of times, but it's for a good reason. These traps are clearly a fruitless endeavor, it is doing nothing but making people angry. it doesn't help that the speedometers are TOTALLY incorrect of how fast the car is actually going, they display literally double the speed of the actual car. These 2 things do not go together well as people are scrambling to make money after the reset but they keep losing their money due to incorrect speed traps. I understand that they were made to stop unrealistic driving, but please just hear the community out and remove them and/or fix the speedometers and/or raise the speed limits and/or just put them on when the lights are just red, as that would make this much more enjoyable. Plus, $5000 for speeding on a highway is just... no. It should be $1000 tops. Thank you.

They make a lot of sense on the rural roads with civilians, people crossing etc... but a highway?! I don't think anyone in their right mind drives 70 MPH on a highway. 80/85 is standard....

My biggest issues with these fines is they should work like tickets. Not deduct straight from your account. It's added insult to injury with how little the jobs pay.

SUPPORT. Remove cameras on highways. Feel free to keep them in the city. Would also be nice to have them marked on the map because IRL theres not just invisible cameras everywhere. Reduce the fines to 1000 max.

Police are just being lazy and want less work. Not only are there cameras everywhere but if you speed instead of just pulling you over they just freeze you and yell at you for speeding LOL.

If you want people to drive realisticly then add more realistic driving physics so you can't just turn and stop on a dime and slam into walls going 100 and not die. Being able to do so promotes this reckless driving you are trying to prevent. It works on other servers and I don't see why it wouldn't work on here. Take more realistic less annoying measures to prevent this stuff stop being lazy.

Before the reset I started playing somewhere else for time being and having realistic driving physics where you cant just stop/hit things and recover instantly, death after smashing into walls going abnormally fast and marked cameras in the CITY ONLY. It was phenominal how well that handled the realistic driving aspect.

Ditch the highway cams, and mark the speed cameras on the map, but smaller than the usual icons.
Make fines reasonable, for instance in the city where the speed limit is 40, if you go 50, you get a 150$ ticket. 51? 162$. Incrementally increase it until you hit a good number than make the jump you want. (5k for 150+? in the city ofc)

If players can see the cams, it will still stop them from driving fast because nobody wants to lose the cash, so itll be like stop/go. Then cops can focus more on highways and back roads where there are no cameras.

There's only two or three on Great Ocean and most are still sort of in the city and there are none on Los Santos Fwy. There's only like 1 or 2 in the county (that I'm aware of). Most are focused in the city.

We can adjust the fines a bit more but they are still going to make a dent. There's no point in putting them as invoices because people will probably never pay them.

But I promise that the only alternative to these cameras that if they are removed, anyone besides police with their lights and sirens on who are doing 100+ in the city will be subject to a ban.

Side note, we will adjust the fines to be a max of 1k (when at 40+ mph over the speed limit). However, we will not be marking them on the map and they will still instantly charge you

I will also say that the actual tickets the cops give out could be potentially even more expensive than these.

I understand why you guys want to stop speeding but i'm failing to see how either of these options are correct? People speeding on the freeway is usually never an issue to peoples gameplay/ a disruption. The city should have plenty of speed cameras, but if someone wants to drive their vehicle fast, they cant. Why force someone to make that decision instead of making it myself. This is a role play server, if I wanna speed and be a criminal I dont think I should be immediately penalized and put lower than others. Tell me why someone is going to want to earn upwards of a million dollars, buy a super car, and then be stuck doing 70? Let him speed, the consequences are dying, not some bs speed camera taking chunks of cash for opening your car up on the freeway. Also how is people just slowing down for the speed camera pointless? Dont you want us to drive slower? Just my 2 cents, I enjoy most things on the server but this is one thats a major buzz kill

Anyone with a super car would drive it like they wanted to, and they'd take getting pulled over and eat the ticket. IM FINE WITH THAT. What im not ok with is opening my car up on an empty freeway, and getting a magic speeding ticket taken out of my bank account. You're ignoring the bigger picture. Its RP dude, let me live how I want, you are literally restraining me from playing how I want. I can take my car on the highway irl right now and go 100 and not lose a dollar, I just have to worry about my life, others around me and cops pulling me over. How about you remove all cameras and just cap ALL vehicles to 70 MPH? Speeding is not unrealistic. Invisible cameras is unrealistic. If you crash at a fast speed you shouldn't have to fake the crash your car just shouldn't work. The cops are lazy and don't want to pull people over and hand out tickets. News flash REAL COPS DO IT ALL DAY. Ripply said it himself they dont want to do it so they made it automated. sounds like laziness to me. Dont forget why people played this server its because it was fun and not some super strict RP server if someone wants that theres whitelisted ones for that

You misinterpreted my statement. Cops don't want to handle jackasses who are unrealistically driving.

We have decreased the fines to the following:
$150 - 10-19 MPH above
$250 - 20-29 MPH above
$550 - 30-39 MPH above
$1000 - 40+ MPH above

Additionally, highway cameras will be reevaluated. I'm locking this thread.
