I don't get people with 8GB of RAM

Dev, my wife has a 28" widescreen and I think its huge compared to my 24". And on top of that we have both our comps in the living room adn if I really wanted I guess I could hook into my 35" hdtv which is literally 2 feet from my tower, but I dont know what I would do playing on something that large. And my wife would kill me if I did anyways.

I like my 24" and think I will stick with it awhile, I gave the little 19" lcd I had to my youngest so she could use her computer till she earned enough to buy her own larger monitor, and seems I will be getting it back in the next few days or so. I so miss having multiple monitors.

no - DDR3 definitely shows improvements...you just have to have hardware that takes advantage of it.

DDR3 has also come down in price. It's not near as cheap as DDR2, but you can pick up 2gigs for around $120. There's always going to be that "high-performance" stuff that's $500, but that's not the norm any more.

I'd bump it up, but the 9800gx2 is a bit of a hairdryer. Bumped the CPU back to stock until I get the ducting finished to take care of all of the heat the video card is dumping in my chassis. Just need some quality time with the tin snips.

I can imagine all the heat from that Gx2...theres enough heat with these puny 8800gt running in SLI, with the single slot cooler.

*sigh* You're making me wish I'd installed 64 bit XP now. I didn't even bother going with more than 2GB when I built this computer. I figure I'll upgrade to 8GB when it's time for an OS upgrade.

At least I have my dual 22" monitors for a total screen size of 3360x1050.
