Bad news. My potatoe died. Apparently the power cord was frayed a bit and I didn't see it. So I was playing a new game and smelled plastic burning, looked down, and there was smoke coming out of the power brick. As I was looking at it, my computer shut off. At first I thought I just needed to get a new adapter, but it wouldn't turn back on even with the battery. MSI rep said the motherboard is fried and would be a $1000ish repair job. So I may as well save the money for a new one. I don't know when that will be.

Alex Origin PCs are expensive, though i would love to get one. Right now I only have a couple hundred towards an 1800ish laptop. Im looking at the Asus ROG Strix Scar. It has a hexacore i7, a gtx 1070 ( not the underclocked mobile version, a full 1070),16gb 2666mhz DDR4, 128gb OS SSD and a 1tb SSHD. Right now it's the slow time so it'll be a while to get the money up.

Does it have to be a laptop? Desktops can be built for cheaper any replacing a motherboard doesn't cost 1000.

You also might want to call a local comp repair shop. They might be able to give you cheaper options as other items in your computer are probably just fine.

Sorry I haven't been checking in. I'm still trying to get the money I need but it's been ridiculously slow lately. It's a 2 step forward and 1 step back, then a 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Real pain. Had about 1200 bucks and got hit with various Bill's and needs, now back down to 500 towards this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NX29T18/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_Lol6Cb30GKSDP . Hopefully have the loot for one before they're gone since the next gen 703s start at 3500. Someone buy me a winning lottery ticket please.

I thought of a Go-Fund-Me, not sure anyone would help on that, plus no clue how to set it up.

epic you may want to check the outlet at newegg, you may find a laptop that is cheaper, may not be as powerful as the one you have there but may save you some money. I got the wife's from there and it's an asus rog just on the low end of the pole but it only cost 1500 bucks

Thanks guys and gal. I miss playing with you all. I'm going through game withdrawals and my day isn't complete without calling BS on Beepbeeps at least once.

Alex I'm looking at portability and longevity for my next PC. With an i9 and a RTX 2080, I'm hoping for at least 7-10 yrs of hardware being relevant for all my computing needs. Though for that price I may look closer at those Origin PCs. I have to double check but last I read they could be upgraded like a desktop.
