Hi guys, I was wondering where I can get a good gaming laptop for <$1600. I'm looking at something with better than 8600M and dual core 2.0 or higher. Thanks

Check out our sponsors, but the words "gaming" and "laptop" have a varied history when used together. What kind of games are you looking to play on the laptop and also does picture quality matter to you? There are a lot of different screens, I believe that now the WXGA is the best...but I'm not sure, someone is bound to know though. Also, when looking at the gaming laptops be aware that you will not be getting as good of a machine as one you could purchase with a laptop (ie make sure you are going to use it for laptop purposes as well as gaming, if its only going to sit on your desk, get a desktop).

with that sort of budget you would be MUCH better off getting a desktop system instead. yes, you can configure a laptop for games, but at that price point you're going to have to make quite a few compromises that you just wouldn't have to make in a desktop machine.

Costco has some good deals. 3 gigs of ram, 17 inch with fast cpu. Think coupons just ended today, i work at Costco, and they had a good one with a intel core 2 duo t8100 i think for 1300 or something.

I would highly recommend a mac laptop. Install bootcamp and run windows, it's a great investment. If you don't want to deal with the OS switchover, then Dell XPS laptops work well, but pricey.

i would have to agree with the few post up right now for that kind of cash i would get super desktop over a bare bones laptop. Trust me i spend 4k on a sony laptop some time back for games and it didnt last long before it was outdated. It wasnt very good to play games on either.
