London was a great guy, and one thing great guys
always have, are great stories... Here is a good one
he sent me once.

Hi Warren,
The other day I mentioned about putting myself up for a court marshal, well I think I should explain.


When in the Army I was a Military Policeman, stationed in London at our main Barracks.
Our O.C Retired and we got another O.C an Officer from the Tank Brigade who knew nothing about being an MP. Well for the first few weeks a lot of MP's were put on charges for, long hair, dirty boots, dirty webbing etc, and they were all given a punishment.

This morning I was on guard duty at the main entrance, I was wearing dress uniform, the O.C's driver flashed his light when he came around the corner so I walked out and stopped the traffic for him, he drove in and about 20 minutes later the duty sergeant came up to me and said I was on charges at 1200 mid-day for not saluting the O.C as he went by. In was marched in and the charge read out and was asked if I wanted to say anything, I said "I refuse to accept any punishment" the O.C went ballistic, and thats when he should have court marshaled me.

I was thrown out of the office and told to be back at 4 pm. I was marched into the office again and asked if I wanted to say any thing, so I repeated what I had said that morning, well he was really mad at me by then. He gave me a severe reprimand and I left the office.

I past him on the square as I went home in my civilian clothes. I never carried out that punishment as a MP on point duty did not have to salute an Officer in case it might cause an accident with drivers thinking the MP had waved them on. The RSM, and the CSM both agreed with me and we all laughed it of, thats what happens when you know the rules .

I always enjoyed when London would post his longer stories, or in multiple parts on the forums.
 
Nice story. It shows his character and teaches us a lesson :)
It's sad that I had had similar experience but learnt almost opposite lesson. Korean military is like 6 decades behind...
 
I made a comment in DoD:S the other day about missing London... I was shocked when so many people comment about what a good guy he was. It seems like the entire active community knew about the loss and his impact. It warmed my heart a little and gave me a feeling that humanity still has a chance.
 
London is like my husbands Grandfather in many ways he tells war stories from when he was behind enemy lines in WWII. He is 95 years old and I can't imagine him one day being gone from our lives either. My husband has a 97 year old grandmother that constantly talks about the war as well. You can learn so much from the older generation and in another 10 years many of these people will be gone and with them a wealth of knowledge will have departed our world. I loved that London lived his life to the fullest and was a stand up gentleman. We can all learn from him even though he is no longer here. He represents a time that is far gone when people were brought up to be morally responsible for there actions. These days it doesn't seem to be much of that going on in our governments or even our personal lives.

Oh he was such a great person! Thank you for sharing. We would also privately chat during matches (mostly about you, LOL, J/k). Besides being kind, funny and a true gentleman, he was also competitive. I loved how he always pushed me to do my best; "C'mon Princess, get those flags...you're slacking!"

I know he enjoyed "acknowledging" when he got me with a grenade...when I would return the favor, I often replied, "I can't protect you on that side London!" Such fun in-game banter.

The other day, I was playing and dealing with a negative situation. I thought how would London handle this. Then my favorite song came on and I realized, he would want me to turn up the volume, mute the negativity and simply enjoy Blitzing the server. Oh, and sip some wine. So yes, his positive influence on the server continues.

Life is short...be good people!

Never got to chat or play any games with him but he was a great person from what I can tell, wish I had the honor
 
Miss that dude just read he pasted away in November wish I would of booted up DoD in the past year.
 
I don't play on Avalanche very often, but when I hadn't been seeing London online I was afraid that this would be the news. :(
 
I miss the good old days when Donner, Flash, and AVA were all full. Filled with great players like London, and a few of you folks in this thread.
