Bad Company 2 Hey Fellas

Hey Everyone,

I?ve been playing on the EGO BFBC2 server for almost 4 years at this point, and I haven?t really made myself part of the community, partially because I didn?t know there was much of one, and partially because of a few reasons I?ll get in to, but I wanted to change that. Here goes.

My name?s Kevin, I?m 34, I live in Northern Ca and work as a mechanic at a winery. I?ve been playing FPS games for almost 20 years, starting in earnest with Counter Strike 1.3 on dial-up. I?ve kept the name Mr. Goodbar for most of that time, although my original handle was [Echo]Foxtrot, which was the name I used when I played in CAL-O then later CAL-M. I was an admin on the server Sludgeworks (Which I believe is still around, running CSGO now) but have all but stopped playing CS since CSGO came out. I still dabble in CSS every now and again, but most of my multiplayer FPS is BFBC2 nowadays, and 90% of that is spent on EGO. I also play flight sims; SEFSX and XP11.

Other than that, my time and money goes into cars, pool, guns and work. I have an old Datsun 510 that I?m restoring (see: money) I play pool in two local leagues and frequently go out to the range.
As far as BFBC2, I only had a laptop when I started in ?15. I was the typical noob, running around looking at the sky. I didn?t make much of an effort to talk to anyone because I was intimidated by how much better everyone was than me, (since I was just starting a 5 year old game) and as time went I just kinda kept to myself, especially since I?m a fairly quiet person. Over the last couple years I?ve graduated to an Alienware desktop (I7-7700, Gforce 1070, 16 GB RAM, Samsung 32? 2K QLED monitor) which is obviously more than enough for a 10 year old game, but it?s not enough for my flight sims?the struggle continues.

So, now this part. I expect a fair amount of people don?t like me and I know several people think I hack. I thought we were past this, but it appears not. This is partially why I wanted to come introduce myself and be a little more involved. I?ve said it plenty of times already and anyone that knows me knows I do not hack, and abhor the people that do. I get a lot of enjoyment out of playing BFBC2, even though it?s 10 years old.

What really disappoints me is the general attitude. It?s striking how many people seem to come on server and have a bad time, almost like they don?t enjoy playing the game at all. The amount of times I see people complain about their own team, don?t say GG, don?t respond when people say hello, hackusations etc etc? I have to admit, this gets difficult to deal with. So I come here in an effort to engage more with the people I play with, which to some I may owe an apology actually. Sometimes I can be gruff, or in a bad mood. But I have to be honest, the Debbie Downers on server, along with the almost constant name calling I get and hackusations gets to be a lot to deal with when I just want to come play BFBC2 after a day at work. So I respond negatively because I?m frustrated. There are a handful of people that are really bad, and recently some admins have even been getting in on it, which is even more disappointing.

I didn?t post this in an effort to complain or get sympathy or something, I?m just a bit confused, and I wanted to make myself part of the community that I participate in frequently. I have to note that not everyone seems to just want to complain, there are lots of people that treat others with respect and seem to have a good time, and I appreciate it very much.

You actually strike me as one of the more liked people in the game, among the regulars anyway. I am also getting a whole much of accusations thrown my way, but I wouldn't expect these guys to be involved on the forums. I would hope that if they were, they'd realize that this is the proper channel to make a complaint about someone they suspect. Even when they're referred here or told to join the squad, spectate and record, they just don't and prefer to publicly make wild accusations. Most hack accusations are anger-accusations and there's just no way they honestly believe people hack ? they'd like to believe it, I'm sure, as it would make them feel better about their own abilities (self-validation?). I've been accused of uzi aimbots, rocket aimbots, god-mode, making rockets do a 180, shooting rockets at the ground and having them go through and up and the list goes on. I bet your accusations involve AT4 and tanks. Embrace it!

Personally, I think it really depends which team you're placed on. I wouldn't expect many to really enjoy the game playing on an extremely weak team. I'm sure most really don't mind it unless they're trying to play the objective. It may be an old game with many regulars on it, but it's not uncommon to have 80% of the players play for kills. I myself may be guilty of sometimes pointing out players on my own team that play for k/d with tanks from afar. Alternatively, if all hope is lost, I just give up and camp with the rest of the team .

As for good games, they're few and far between. By default, any game ending with > 400 tickets for the winning team is a bad game. The vast majority of games are unbalanced so I at least don't say gg (even if I'm on the winning team). I guess it's a matter of perspective.

The first part truly surprises me, but thank you.

Trust me, I know where the accusations come from, but literally had a dude last night say "Stop killing us and we'll know you're not hacking". I know full well where it comes from, but having people do this all the time gets SUPER old man. Some people are downright nasty. I know you're right though, and most of the time I am able to let it go.

Again, I feel ya. I didn't mean to imply that no one is able to say "Move up" or "why are you camping with tanks on A hill" without being rude, just some people take things to another level. I certainly don't always have good games, and I'm fersho guilty of a good 'ol fashioned rage quit, but most of the time I have fun regardless.

Nice intro Kev....... I believe this 10 year old game here (the HM server) has reached a point of "either we save it or allow it to turn into the Wild West".... I get shit from the loser kids here all the time (never been accused of hacking cause my scores just plain suck) but i can understand how grating all that can be on a good decent player. I have only one tool in my arsenal..... the Ban Request......and i employ it as deemed needed. There are 2 guys who have joined this clan in the last couple of months on HM (Lem is one) who hopefully will be considered for Admin status asap. Yes, BC2 HM needs more policing and maybe a new "Sanitation Squad" to take out the trash. Let's put a landfill behind the U.S. Base back in the swamp. Yeah, that's it, fill in the swamp lol. I have the same problem as you, with time the real and good players will not tell you anything anymore and it is the principal for me. They have to understand that you have a good level of play. Continue to play on the server you're welcome.

Howdy Mr Goodbar, welcome to the community! I am also feeling your pain. it has been crazy with all the hackusations and even the griefing here lately. You are def welcome to play on the server. Have never had any issues with you either on the same team or on the receiving end (which has been quite a bit, but i blame that on my 22in monitor lol)

Hey Mr. Goodbar and eGO, i'm similar to you in that I tend to not talk on the server very much and I've also been playing FPS games on PC for nearly twenty years now. Honestly I'd just try to brush of the accusations as best you can. I saw a similar thing happen to a game I played since 2002 called Medal of Honor Allied Assault/Spearhead, the community in that game has dwindled to around 100 or less on most days and I've since stopped playing since most of the people that are left never really played at a very high level and you'd get accused by people constantly and kicked or banned without proof or even a conversation on most servers. I feel like Bad company 2 is in a similar state or rather has been for a while now, where as that people who are new to the server and even some older regulars who accuse people every game tend to to get the game and not understand or don't bother to learn the full extent of how ping can effect gameplay or all the just general jankyness that comes with a BF game and jump to the worst conclusions rather than thinking it through, or at least observing the player for an extended period of time before calling them out. Honestly i'd just try to brush it off as best you can, if they really thought that you hacked then they'd use the tools that are available to them and post on the forums or use team-speak to report the people they thought did. Though I suspect that most never do if they say something like that in game as it alerts the player and doesn't give an admin time to observe for themselves. Just know that there are a lot of good level headed and like-minded regulars on the server for the most part and try to ignore everyone else. I honestly don't think I've seen a hacker on the server for a couple years now though I do like to take extended breaks after a few months. Anyways good to meet you and see you in game.

I will parasite on this thread and introduce myself a bit too (yesterday some guys asked during one exceptional round).. im 34, my first shooter was MOH 2010.. and than.. i met this beauty. BFBC2. First 1000 hours were spent at rush servers (and my favourite Oasis), where i joined FREEHAND Clan. As Lumir25 and later 52rimul

After clan ceased to exist, i found heavy metal conquest. And since than (2012?) Its my favourite map. Big, pure, true...where ping, newest rig and good reflexes are not priority. Experimence and inteligence and AT4 is I spent most of my t?me on MGB server

Than i met DU4 Clan - great guys, specialised on heavy metal, hosting several servers for BFBC2 (EA and Nexus).. moded, 32 helis.. where your could train AT4 All day long beeing admin for several years - i see how hard it is. And hats down to all volluntiers. Today i use to play as easy_im_old (reference to FREEHAND times and easy_im_new guy if im feeling too rusty and slow to represent my DU4 Clan (and my primary DU4 52rimul nickname)

So.. 3500hours+, heavy metal addiction.. thats me and in next 3500 hours' ill learn how to fly

I understand you perfectly, my name in the game is kakkaroto, viperx7, etc. I have several more names.
I've also been playing bad company for a long time, I think almost all the games, and I like it, I like it and I find you entertaining and fun is BFBC2.
To me all the time they accuse me of hacker, baserape, etc., there are people who really hate me and I think it is by killing them continuously xD.
I do not pay attention to them.
In the game, I have several friends and most of them are adults, I'm about to turn 42 and my name is Leonardo.
