Have you flashed your BIOS? It could be the new chip is incompatible with your motherboard or that your motherboard needs to be updated. IRQL not less or equal usually means 2 pieces of hardware are sharing the same IRQ # which is known to cause problems. Not much you can do about it besides move hardware (sound cards etc...) to other places. I'm not an expert by any means, but I believe your motherboard is having difficulties with the new chip. Try a flash, and in the worst case scenario, get a motherboard that is definitely compatible with that chip.

My bios is up-to date and it i SUPPOSED to support 45nm (or so it says), I'm going to buy new one perhaps:

Yo, your processor runs in a 1333 FSB and your mobo supports only up to 1066. If you use that mobo, you have to take a big CPU hit. And btw, you need to install windows with just 1 2gig stick installed. After lookin around a little bit, it seems like that mobo is buggy if you install it with more than 3 gigs, at least 32 bit (i think it is the same for vista 64), and people were reporting BSOD errors. You might want to try that, but buying a new mobo would be your best bet. Grab yourself a 790i board if you can afford it, and just eBay that one for like 100 bucks or something :P

i was going to get the Intel one because i could have gotten it for 150 with the Intel family discount but like thatguy said, I'll just pick a Evga off ebay.

yes, just now but with little resolve. Although i did get slightly farther before a BSOD struck.

BTW everyone thanks for all the help, I'm gonna buy a new mobo and some new sli-ready ram. Be on the look out for stuff on the buy/sell/trade section :)
