Graphics Glitches Galore, help me fix it!

Hey guys,

I've been getting a variety of graphical glitches for the past few weeks intermittently. I've made sure to install the updated graphics drivers, the bugs seem to go away, then they return.

My question is, what is a possible way to fix this? Should I just redownload TF2? If I do redownload, how do I backup my game info so I don't need to redownload maps, and where can these various "important" files be found? The steam file layout is confusing to me.

Some screen caps would be good actually.

But without seeing them, graphical glitches are usually one of three things.

1. Overheating graphics board, particularly the VRAM.
2. Faulty or overheating RAM.
3. Corrupt game files.

What are the glitches exactly. Do things like flicker or are images skewed or what>? Graphical glitches is kind of a broad term. Go ahead and try to get some screenshots so we can try to pinpoint what might be causing them.

Also, I might know what you are talking about. When I highlighted stuff on the server list or in the Options menu, the highlighting seemed to stretch and fuzz rapidly. Also a few spots in the game the screen would flash incessantly on the bottom half of my screen. But I just uninstalled all the drivers and used DriverCleaner and got all of the related nVidia software completely off of my computer, and then reinstalled. Everything has been working fine since.

Besides some game glitches, overheating of the graphics card is known to cause distortions in color and image known as "artifacting" try turning up your fan speed using a program like Rivatuner, and making sure to dust off your case and its fans.

Well, the most common glitch has been only the characters turning solid green in color. Other times I just get random lines, and just a bit ago, those who were being healed by medics turned to green/black pixelated textures.

I've monitored my graphics card temps, it has a Zalman cooler and it stays at about 40C, I don't think that's too hot. Plus, the glithes are too specific, such as characters only to be overheating problems, at least I wouldn't think.

hey, i don't remember exactly what the place is but i think ists=

pregram files> stream> steam apps> your username> TF2> mapss?????

just poke around in that general area until you find it, its some combo of the above ^^^

Sounds quite peculiar, it could be a bad driver... a bad gpu, or a bad install.
 
is it only happening in game? if you're getting random line and color switches elsewhere, it could also be your monitor going bad, or a bad cable or connection.
 
For the player models to turn green I would think it's either his installation of the game or a problem with the GPU :/
