Here's a rare Glimpse of the new 9800 gx2 with the heatsink removed.

Here's another picture of the 9800gx2 with everything on. This is supposed to be able to run in SLI, effectively allowing up to 4 gpu's per game.

Here's a link to the review of the dual 3870's from ATI. The prices seem very competitive and appears to have a lead over the 8800ultra in some games. Definitely worth checking out! The 3870 x2 is capable of running in crossfire.

Sweeeeet. Look awesome. Can't wait! Ive seen those before but I dont think ill be buying them as SOON as they come out. Ill wait a while until they go down in price.
 
lol yea, they are a little pricey. The 9800gx2 is said to cost more though. However, this could change. The images are the only "concrete" info. It is going to be very interesting how this turns out.
 
be careful with those radeon 3870x2 claims being faster than an ultra. they are only close with 2 of the in crossfire accrding to toms hardware. But check out the REAL reviews for them at hardocp and you will see the 8800gtx owns a single 3870x2
 
when i first opened the window up, i saw the word naked, but when the pictures came up...i was slightly disappointed...

but anyways, those look like some really sweet cards
 
I think the only thing going for ati right now is their price/performance ratio. Although the 8800ultra beats it in several benchies, the 3870 is still the better "economic" choice. For 450, its not that bad. It still disappoints me that it takes TWO gpus to counter a card that has been available for more than a year.I REALLY hope that ATI comes out with something better. Competition is a good thing, it counters self interest and makes prices cheaper. AKA, the "invisible hand" of the marketplace. I haven't owned an ATI card since the 9800pro. I've been with nvidia since the 6800gt. I would be more than willing to own another ATI card if they gave me an incentive to do so. Lets hope that 2008 will be a good year for ATI.

In fact i sold that card to a friend for 50 dollars when i got my 6800gt )which i flashed to ultra) and its still running strong for him. all he plays is guildwars though.
 
Yea....the 9800 was a good card. Very nostalgic. The problem with me is that I upgrade more than I probably should. Just this winter I sold off my 8800gts 640 so that I could buy the 8800gts (g92). Since I only paid around 100 for the difference, it wasn't that bad of a deal. Oh yea, and speaking of the 6800gt, Leadteks were famous for the bios flashing. They had (or still do have) a wonderful utillity called winfox. If I remember correctly, many people used the software for cards that were not leadtek's and nvidia got very upset with the number of people who were flashing them. I still have my 6800gt, it's the agp version. I was just playing css with it on 1600x1200 and I was amazed at how much it lagged. On team fortress 2, you might expect it to run on max settings. But because of all the HDR, you would be lucky to run it smoothly on medium. =( Still, it was a great card back in its day, and I remember when all the stores and e-tailers never had it in stock.
 
She looks like a real beauty. I'm actually holding off on buying a new card to wait untill that comes out and I'm going to buy it. Have about 300 Dollars saved up or a video card.
 
9800 pfft, its all about the 5600fx that my dads running it plays every game still, but im using the 7900gt/gto great card, ill up grade to a 8800 ultra or 9800 in a year
 
yea, the 8800's will get cheaper for sure. But even right now, you can pick up some nice 8800's for less than 200.
